Just saw a picture of Surfside beach front.
It was bad but it was'nt the nuclear wasteland I thought it would be. Haven't seen Jamaica Beach or Bolvar yet.

Fox news had a piece on this morning about a Galveston family that rode it out.
They look like desendant of pirates. They had a little snaggly tooth 8 year old girl and she looked right into the camera and said , "errrr we're Islanders and we're surviors."

How are they staying within sanitary regulations with a compromised city water supply?

Things like potable water and even a basic such as employee handwashing have to be hurdles to providing a safe meal.

Houston’s downtown area has been closed for cleanup and assessment of storm damage. Only authorized personnel with a critical need to be in the area will be allowed to enter. Unauthorized persons should not attempt to enter downtown.

Lil Pun, how's the weather in Arkansas? Looks like you're getting tons of rain now.

Lost power at 7pm last night but it came back on at 5am amazingly. Thanks to everyone that posted updates during the night, all I had working was my iPhone. I've been sleeping it all off today with some nice cold a/c pumping. What a horrible night.

I drove on the beltway to look around this evening and the entire city looks dark. Really freaky. Only lights I saw on were the toll booths and one block at Clay Road and the Beltway. A Shell station and a Taco Cabana getting overrun by people.

we're about to get some electricity back on here in 77070. Willowbrook mall and shopping center with the circuit city, 59 diner, petsmart, etc had their lights on such. From 249 and 1960 going east was just pitch black.

Damage from my end from my parents place was one side of my fence has 2/3 of the fencing gone and the right side has about 1/6 of fencing torn down and the back of the fence was fine. That is pretty much it with no trees down but just limbs and leafs on the ground to pick after the storm left.
