Had shrimp omlets for breakfast, sightly breezy in Austin. Sorry, but bailing turned out to be a good choice. 4 hour drive to Austin @ noon yesterday. Watching TV reports : Downtown skyscrapers are pretty blown out. Lots of glass and paper. Many underpasses including beltway @ at Westpark are underwater. If your planning on driving around pick a route that doesn't ever go below grade. Mayor says water supply is compromised. drink only bottled water or boil it for a minute. City water pumps are down without power. Use water sparingly...no bathing. Surfiside doesn't look as bas as I thought it would. I figured it would be nothing but mud flats but there are still shrubs, trees and grass right at 3005. I hold the slightest hope that out beachouse on the front row at Jamaica Beach will be salvageable...probably not. It was built in 1960 so it's only 11 feet above sea level. The official storm surge was 13.5 feet. No cameras have made it to the west end yet, in fact they haven't ventured out of the San Luis yet. 3 million without power in greater Houston. It could be weeks to restore. The might Clutchfans server is up.
Glad I left. I got word from my neighbor that my subdivision got hammered. i have 2 trees in my house and by his words I have "Massive damage" to my bedroom and den areas. Haven't seen it yet, and probably won't get to until at least Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll post pictures of it if I can.
we are in the highrise and we are only ones with power it seems, theyve cleared some trees from the road and lights appear to be working. noone in the shopping center though
i live in lubbock for school but my home is in sugar land. I cant get a hold of anyone....whats the damage like out there?!??!
Thanks for the update man. As soon as there's power, it looks like I'll have to head that way. Good luck over there.
Guys sorry I couldnt go back and read but I only have limited juice left on my blackberry. Is anyone else out there without water? The water is not functioning in my neighborhood in The Heights, but from the sound on the radio and from other people I've talked to, the water should be fine and is working for most people.
been with out power here in nacogdoches since around 3:30am. sucks, starting to get hot. its pretty damn windy. sorry for no caps, on gf's phone.
Anyone know if texadelphia has power? If they do they said they would be open for business. I sure could use a cheesesteak right now.
It sounds like the pressure and/or water has been cut off to your building or area. Any word on how the Stewart buildings are doing?
Found this as well.. The water supply isn't cut off, it's a problem with the pumping station. Mayor Bill White today asked residents to conserve water because the city's water supply was reaching low-pressure levels amid a power outage at a crucial pumping station.
I'm up in Austin - I haven't heard from family that is down there, but everything i've seen on the news looks pretty good. The storm surge was not even close to the doomsday predictions of 25 feet - so really it was just dealing with 90-100 MPH winds.
