You go by numbers thats you're problem. Go by impact. AI is a chucker. he dosent make anyone better. he's made melo worse. ginoboli is a scorer. he dosent make anyone better. redd?. you kidding me. out of those guys, who makes there teammates better while still carrying the rocketys to 50 plus wins almost every year.
No, but but tmacs impact on the game of basketball far exceeds just numbers. it's the amount of open looks he creats. the playmaking. and he can also score with any ogf them if he focuses. he's much more undselfish and team oriented then any of them.
ERrrrrrrrrrrrr your just a numbers man. Tmac is better then half those players you mentioned just because of his impact on the court. other players u mentioned ginobili, marion, redd etc.. dont get doubled nearly as much and therefore concentrate on their sole purpose-- score. Tmac creates for others because he doesn't have a decent enough point gaurd to take the pressure off. Marion played with nash, ginobili - parker and redd.... well his just **** look at his team.
I could easily turn around and say Michael Redd is better than T-mac because of his 'impact on the court'. I could say Dan Langhi is better than Tim Duncan despite the numbers because of his 'impact on the court'. We can say whatever we want to each other as long as we never have to prove or quantify are statements. That's why it is a bad argument, as well as the 'making your teammates better' argument. Everyone has their own distinct definition of impact and making your teammates better. You don't know (or care) what my definition is of 'impact' or 'making your teammates better, nor do I know or care about yours. So you never want your argument to be centered around those 2 phrases.
Tmac is better then half the people on your list just because he is . My point is that Tmac recieves more attention when he plays so its harder for him to get off easier shots. If you were looking at stats Tmac had one of the best assists ratings for his position. Micheal redd is the best player on his team so he gets doubled and look wat happens to their team.... If you watched the rockets games after Yao went down. Opposing teams just zoned in on tmac and they were able to win because of his ability to maneuver out of traffic leading to quality shots for others. It can be argued that Tim Duncan is better then Tmac however it is hard to compare different positions. However Duncan is a bigger coaster in the regular season then Tmac. Although Duncan may also get double (not nearly as much as tmac) he swings it out and have guys like ginobili that can hit shots. Mate the quickest way to end a war is to lose it. So you might as well give up because tmac deserves to be ranked higher then 29 for the upcoming season
He's more like a 43-44% shooter when healthy, his percentage started to dip when he started to deal with injuries last season.
Anyone who thinks Dwight Howard is better than T-Mac does not know WTF he is watching on a basketball court.
I wish there is some sort of experimental NBA program where players move to different teams for a few games. Honestly, if Michael Redd, Dwight Howard etc. were so damn good, why weren't they the best second half team of the season, why can't they get a 12 game win streak, why can't they make an impact in the leastern conference.
The basketball knowledge of some people here is embarrassing. It seems as if some are just checking the scoring avg and throwing out names of people supposedly better than T-Mac. Igoudala, Marion, Calderon, Josh Smith!? LOL!!! We might as well say Jason Richardson or Richard Jefferson is better than T-Mac. Maybe they should do some research and check our record with T-Mac vs without him. Even when Yao was out the past 2 years we were still in contention for a top seed. T-Mac is the best playmaker in the league among non-PG's. There's no way there is 28 players in the league above him. There will be at least 10 players mentioned above him that will have those who know basketball scratching their heads and wondering why they can't be paid to be analysts.
just saw this through the link, some laker fan write it---- "Just to reiterate please don't tell me you think Carmelo, Pierce, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen (he can't possibly be on the list, can he), Kidd (ditto), Odom (I'm a Laker fan, but I'm not an idiot), Gasol, etc. are bette- wait, you already did. " -----that blog's owner ranked Joe Johnson and Odom ahead of T-Mac?that's crazy.
relax guys, it's a blogger. we shouldn't get too heated over this. as long as the team wins, tmac will get his respect. i still remember ESPN analysts putting him among the top 8 to win MVP, with lebron being the main guy.
"And this is to say nothing of the immeasurable impact of the near-constant double-teams McGrady (for some reason) still draws: no perimeter player in the league sees more early help defense, save for LeBron." ----------------- how can the blog's owner even say t-mac draws the most early help defense. and I always want to kown: why so many double-teams with t-mac while not so many with kobe?
Is this really a Rockets fan site or a T-mac fan site? Because I don't know how so many supposed Rocket fans can willingly give so much of the credit of Houston's winning streak to T-mac. How can you guys ignore the extraordinary defense the team played during the streak? Or Rafer Alston, Carl Landry & Luis Scola upping their averages in March? T-mac wasn't even that extraordinary in March. He averaged 22.6ppg on 41% shooting, 23% from 3 and 66% FT shooting, to go along with 6rbg and 6apg. Then he followed that up with 21.5ppg on 38% shooting, 23% from 3 and 74% from the FT line in April. And one other thing people are ignoring from the blog is the fact that T-mac shoots at a higher rate than any other player except Lebron James....while being one of the most inefficient scorers in the league. Are you going to tell me that doesn't hurt our offense at all? What was the main criticism of Iverson early in his career? The length some people go to exaggerate T-mac's value amazes me. Look, T-mac is still a very, very good player. But if someone out there thinks there are 28 guys better than him, then no big deal. It's just an opinion, but it's not a travesty.
The Houston Rockets finds ways to win games without Yao....and all I hear is, "T-MAC! T-MAC! T-MAC!!!!" It takes 5, people.
Tmac is a rocket, so yeah the tmac love is appropriate. You think the 'extraordinary defense' of rafer, landry and scola was the reason for the streak? Their averages had nothing to do with tmac being double teamed leaving guys wide open? Gotcha. Lets trade tmac for butler, or ginobili
