Looks like Ike packed a punch, but not the knock out blow they were expecting, so some good news I guess.

honestly, while waiting for it too hit, I actually felt what boxers felt when they faced Mike Tyson right before he reved back to hit them. guess houston has a strong chin because it bruised but not broken.

Looks like we are getting the last bits of Ike here in Magnolia.

I am not afraid to admit it; that was one scary night. Hearing stuff hit your roof all night and not being able to see what it is.

Power went off about 330am and is still down. Lost a ton of limbs and 2 trees.

Here is a picture of my front yard:

Any reports out of Galveston yet? Clear Lake and Houston look pretty good so far from what i've watched on the news.

Saw some reports on CNN....and some live shots of those houses on the beach....AMAZINGLY still standing.

I think at the end of the day, Ike will have fallen short of retirement.

Can you give me an update on Clear Lake? I'm in Dallas right now, but my parents' house is in CL. I haven't been able to find any info online about the damages there.

Actually, its really just flood damage. No structural damage.

The most "destroyed" areas are likely the freak fires that occured due to possible gas leaks, and firefighters were unable to put them out.
    (Edit: Bailanese room was destroyed)

Any update to how the River Oaks area has held up?

I decided to extend my stay in Orange County, CA to avoid the storm
