If Greater Houston loses power, would it make sense for me to drive in from San Antonio some time Saturday evening to pick up my parents and their pets? My home is in San Antonio, plenty of room, no danger of tons of water in their area. Growing up, not having power after alicia was nearly unbearable . . . two weeks. Thoughs?
where the hell is the rain??? arent there supposed to be a lot of rain bands with a storm this large??
its really doubtful it will take two weeks for the majority of customers, that estimate includes the ones that have water in houses and will have to be checked before power can be restored to that area. thanks LHFan, I grew up in Pasadena, but not in that area, so wasnt sure about flood patterns. I use the same yardstick to decide if I thought my house here would flood, during Allison we only had water to our sidewalk and figured if it didnt flood then, it probably wont now.
It's right around the corner. Baytown is getting nailed and the east side of Houston is about 20-30 minutes away from receiving the first bad bands.
I'm in Sugar Land (77478), and the light has flickered five times so far. Only once did it last longer than three seconds... What are the chances of lights going out for 1-2 weeks in Clear Lake?
Depending on where they live, tomorrow night be me a bit premature. There will likely be a lot of debris and downed power lines in the roads, and I can't imagine that the cleanup will begin until Sunday at the earliest.
One week, maybe...two weeks very doubtful. We had an emergency meeting with Centerpoint on Thursday and they have over 15,000 linemen ready to roll starting tomorrow afternoon. The rural areas and Galveston I expect to be without power for a long while.
rain and wind is coming down hard in webster. still have power though.....dam I can't believe we beat out humble....lol
We had a weird event here at my Dad's house in 77006 where half the power flashed and the TV turned itself off. That was like 30 minutes ago. Otherwise, mild winds and crickets. Long as nobody gets hurt, we're just camped out waiting for the big show.
