Allen Iverson continues to have problems with Larry Brown, making practices, playing within the TEAM concept and other minor things like that. If the Rockets were able to acquire him in the offseason should they pull the trigger? (as long as it didn't involve Francis) Would Brown take Cuttino, Drew and Cato for Iverson? Would you make this trade? ------------------ I took a course in speed waiting. Now I can wait an hour in only ten minutes- Steven Wright
I dont see how this would help either team. Philly needs scorers, so they give up their #1 option, a superstar, for a bunch of subpar guys and one with potential? No sense for them. Houston needs big men. The guards are already set. Helps us not in the least. rocks NEED BIG MEN!! ------------------ Not only am I president of the WaltWizFanClub, I'm also the member.
Crisco: You mean cut-tino is better than me-myself and Iverson? I realize this trade proposition is far fetched, but, stranger things have happened. This trade would also help the sixers free up cap room to sign a big name free agent. [This message has been edited by BobFinn* (edited March 19, 2000).]
Hey Bob, You been smoking your snowflakes again. As much as I actually think what you offer for iverson is quite good, I don't think, not matter what Brown wants, there is no way the 76ers owner lets Iverson get traded. Wouldn't it be amazing to see Iverson and Francis as the back court tandem (although i'm sure someone will argue Anderson should still start at the 2) and imagine the posts in BBS, with the reactions Cat's shots get, there would have to be another forum just for iversons shot selection. Smegorama ------------------
That'd mean Iverson and Francis would be the starters. GUARDS: Francis 6'3" Iverson 6'0" Moochie 5'11" Anderson wouldn't be very happy about not starting at the 2-guard either. And if he agreed to start at SF, then we'd have... FORWARDS: Anderson 6'6" K. Thomas 6'8" We'd have the shortest team in the league. We'd also have one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Anderson is a good defender, Iverson and K. Thomas are not, and Stevie has some improving to do as well. Oh yeah, Iverson would also be a bad influence on the entire team. If he can't play team ball, then why do we want him? ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. [This message has been edited by DREAMer (edited March 19, 2000).]
* NO way am i saying that Cuttino is better than Iverson. All im saying is that trades are usually made to help both teams involved(even in dealing with whiny, pouty babies), and on the surface, this trade seems to not help either team. Philly doesnt get much. They already have their own version of Cato(Ratliff). They do NOT need Drew, and Cutiino is hardly enuff to fill the void that would be left on that team(scoringwise anyways). Houston would gain an all-star, but mess up the chemistry and potentially piss off SA and maybe even Francis. We would give up one of our main post players and have nothing to fill in for him. Do you really think the Rocks are gonna get lucky in the draft and pick up a center with even comparable talent to Cato? I dont. Its an interesting thought, but I just dont see the logic towards actually pulling the trigger. ------------------ Not only am I president of the WaltWizFanClub, I'm also the member.
Me, Myself, and I-verson a Rocket? I think that would push Francis out of the scoring picture just a little bit. A trade for Mobley? I don't think that will happen unless it is for a very good big man. Cato is unlikely to be dealt as he is a possible part of the immediate Rockets future. ------------------
Iverson and Francis in the backcourt would be the new millenium version of Barkley and Olajuwon on the left block. Their games are too similar to get good synergy on the court. Plus, I hate Iverson. ------------------
Well said Juan ... though the Rockets would get a lot of NBC time with a backcourt of Francis and Iverson, it's just asking for headaches as both are similar players with big names who need the ball. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
"Iverson continues to have problems with Larry Brown, making practices, playing within the TEAM concept and other minor things like that." You forgot to include that this goofball has no idea how to pass the ball. No way in a billion years would I want his ball hoggin' ass on our team. ------------------ The truth is out there.
I think a better thing would to be able to get our nose into this deal via 3 team Circus. . . other Wise. . . NO!! backcourt would be too short [THOUGH EXPLOSIVE!!] We'd need about 2 or 3 CATOs around the basket on defense to just intimidate Rocket River ------------------
I don't think it would be a problem to have a backcourt of Iverson and Francis. They would provide an offense similar to Sprewell/Houston in New York, although they are a bit taller. But, disregarding his obvious problems with Larry Brown, Iverson's defense is not that bad, he ranks 4th in Steals per game. Plus he has a for my opinion very solid 4.8 assists per game. It's anyway senseless to talk about Iverson coming to the Rockets because we haven't got anything to offer and are over the cap. ------------------
I don't see a problem with that backcourt. It will never happen, but I don't see a problem with it. You can have a backcourt with two twenty plus scorers who play the same style. Golden State was a good example. Talent doesn't win eveything, but it sure makes life a whole lot easier than if you don't have it. Nothing wrong with Iverson in the backcourt alongside Francis. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
