Old School posted that he never thought Steve Francis would leave in another thread and it made me realize that there are times when I get these incredibly pessimistic thoughts and I was wondering if anyone else did too. I get these: "Oh, Francis will leave and we'll suck which will make EG leave eventually and no other players will ever want to play here. Damn, we'll always suck!" or during a game... We miss a shot and I think, "that's it, we suck. We'll never win another game." Anyone else ever go through those bouts of extreme pessimism and live to tell about it? What do you do to deal with it?
yes sometimes.. i guess i'm spoiled that they have always been decent since i've watched them..... and it's tough watching this at times... i try to stay optimistic.. but realistic.. sometimes it's a tough line to draw between realistic and pessimistic... at least i've been optimistic about the texans i've been telling people for two years now that they are undefeated.. and they always say.. but they haven't won a game! and i respond.. they haven't lost one though.. which makes them undefeated lol..
The only real pessimistic thoughts I have regarding the Rockets are about their draft picks. ex: They'll go on a hot streak and push themselves nearly out of the lotto. Raps wont make the playoffs, but will do great next year. Rocks have another losing season next year and don't get a pick to look forward to. And have a harder time convincing Stevie to sign. But other than that, everything is gravy.
Hey Jeff come on man this is HOUSTON...all true Houston fans go through the same thing with every pro team...why u think that Rocket commerical is so funny...but if we lose tonight we really SUCK!! lol j/k
I don't worry whether a player will leave, but I do worry about our road to improvement because sometimes I don't see the improvement or I see problems that take years of maturity to cure.
I'm like a lunatic when I watch Rockets games. I scream at the tv like a mad man. It's gotten to the point that my dad hardly ever wants to watch games with me anymore.
i watch the games by my self....during the back to back years...and now when I am married.... i lock my self in my room and come out only for restroom breaks.... i just like to get into the game... I got espn*web site* on for the stats, and watching other games scores
If we're up by 2 points with 5 seconds, it's the end of the world. "We're going to find a way to lose, I know it." If the other team is up by 2 with 5 seconds left, it's also the end of the world. "We'll never score." It's not a knock on our players or anything. I too can just be a pessimist sometimes.
this says it all for me, too!! i know the rockets are a good enough organization to be very competitive again...they won't be down forever...but often i doubt we're moving in the right direction. wondering if we'll have to take some steps backward before we go forward.
I feel the same way, Jeff. We (Rocket's fans) have seen so many years of playoff basketball, it is painful to watch a bunch of extremely taleted but immature players stumble through a season. At moments they look like they could beat a legend's team and the next minute they become the "little sisters of the poor." They appear arrogant without reason, like teens. I also worry that we have made the wrong personnel decisions (Rice, Cato, Norris, Williams, Collier, Langi, etc.) and that it will take more than one impact player and years of development to make the difference. I really hope not.
i have to keep remote controls out of my hand when watching game... i dont wnat to throw them and break them lol
I feel we have legitiment excuses to why our sucess hasn't resulted in play-off bound record yet with the inguries, changing of rules, big team changes, youth. I think we all are pessimist at times, but that is only because we love the game, love the Rockets and love following a winning team. Relax Rockets fans, our turn is coming soon!
Jeff, I am a little surprised you let those thoughts creep into your head...you are otherwise an optimistic person. Don't you trust the good in people (meaning that, of course Steve will resign with the good guys)? I can honestly say that I do not ever really look at the Rockets pessimistically. Sure, I can no longer think before a game that the Rockets will definitely win, as I once was able to do, but I still think they always can win and will certainly get better. Now that I cannot even watch any games, it is a treat for me to even see them play - win or lose and no matter who is out with injury. Basketball itself is an organic entity, which trickes down to leagues, teams, and players. Enjoyment can come from any of those levels, at any point of development, and during any particular win/lose cycle. If players leave, others will come. Houston is a class organization. Hell, maybe Cato is waiting for Steve to leave so he can really become "The Man" and dazzle us with moves never seen before from the center position...
