i dont understand how hard it is to put up friggin windmills and solar panels. i don't understand why this is even a debate between the parties. it's cheeper than drilling and the source is renewable.
But not that efficient and totally sustainable yet....... Nuclear power is though. I like T-Bone's plan....it seems plausible. DD
You don't understand the marginal impacts of increased supply. Now go stick your head back in the sand with your merry band of liberals
li'l t, when you can conclusively demonstrate your ability to tell the difference between a possum and a large rat, or a real and fake al jazeera site, you can start lecturing posters on other topics. Until then- not so much.
Also notice that we won't even see the first drop until around 2017-18. Why? We can't even start leasing parts of the OCS until 2012. Drill all you want but it's not going to provide any immediate relief. We need to start investing more in alternative energy. John McCain: Rated 17% by the CAF, indicating opposition to energy independence. Barack Obama: Rated 100% by CAF, indicating support for energy independence. http://www.ontheissues.org/Notebook/Note_06n-CAF.htm
I get all flustered when I hear that VP candidate repeatedly say the word 'drilling' all sloooowly and seeeexy. Oh, Biden. I just wanna VOTE for you. 50 years from now, hopefully looking back the energy transition will be up there in importance with Civil Rights. It's an odd concept that we might meet rising demand with diminishing oil supply. When will the dinosaurs that walked alongside Moses and Conan the Barbarian turn into oil? It should be ready in like a decade, what with the black hole time dilation from CERN.
I'd like to see a graph with alternative plans that were proposed to have a better understanding. The current graph doesn't provide the answer.
I hate to sound like Paris Hilton, but why can't we pursue more drilling, nuclear, and renewable energy forms. No single one of those will get us to energy independence. It seems to me that we need a comprehensive plan, but the republicans will not do anything unless more drilling is involved and the democrats won't do anything unless additional taxes are levied on the oil companies, which I think will put our oil companies at a competitive disadvantage against the other oil companies. The end result will be a stalemate where a few corporate interests from each side will win and America will lose. Sorry if I sound too cynical today.
