When we all got out of bed on August 27, the Astros were 27-31 against the NL Central. Since then, they have won eleven consecutive games against the NLC, including a 3-game sweep in Chicago. While they probably can't finish this deal, it's certainly a fun ride!
This is becoming a yearly ritual for this team... Call them dead for 3 quarters of the season and all of a sudden they unleash hell.
And to think... The only time this franchise has advanced in a playoff series was on a year with the crazy runs.
this is hardly improbable at this point. 3 games back...and the brewers schedule is a lot tougher than ours. every time i look up we're gaining a game.
It is starting to seem like a yearly routine. How many times have we made long runs like this? How many other teams could compare to that? Its crazy and exciting.
this would be the 3rd time if we made the playoffs. remember we did it in 2006, too, but fell just short. there are just a handful of franchises that have ever done anything comparable in any one season.
I still call it improbable. The Astros have been the very definition of "streaky" this year (can't call them 'mediocre' anymore), and while the Brewers' schedule may be tough, the Astros *do* have games with the Cubs and Marlins in the near future, and there are the Phillies to contend with, as well. Hey, to me, "improbable" is quite the upgrade from "miraculous" or "they're done, and they've been done for weeks now."
