big 3 together, hoping landry comes back, scola more experienced along with landry, brent barry draining 3 s , beating the celtics, lakers, spurs, suns, and mavericks, staying healthy, winning a championship...isn't obvious.

It's kind of obvious why. this is the most talented roster we've had for well over ten years.with artest we promise to be a defensive jaggurnaut. then you add brent barry who should during the wcf he still has alot of game. if we re-sign deke and landry and get mighty mouse for the vet minimum, it would be a unbeliveble offseason.

    Rafer/Stoudamire/brooks/Francis
    McGrady/Barry/Francis
    Battier/Artest/Harris
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Yao/Moutombo/Dorsey

I think battier will start and ron will alternate between the PF,SF and some SG as the leader of the second unit.

1 Yao's retrun(with more aggressive dunks and improved leader quality)
2 Ron's hope(another great player brings us more hope for winning the champion)
3 T-mac's Redemption( the best opportunity for him to go deep in the playoff)
4 GET RED(new atomosphere and new spirits after last season' 22 straight wins)
5 SF3's hope(he said in China several day's ago that he will contribute more this season)
6 A talented team(Rockects should be respected more by you Americans)
    7 just following usual practice(New season,New hope)

It's about the CHEMISTRY. This team won 22 in a row and I have to say we didn't have the best talented roster in the league last season. We won because we had good chemistry, teamwork, etc...

This season, we have people coming in that are more familiar with Adelman's system. Pretty much the same crew with the addition of Dorsey, Berry, Artest. If Artest doesn't disrupt our team chemistry, I wonder how far this team can go with a better talented lineup.

    Good positive thread in theory.

My excitement is all about our offense.

I am as amped as anyone about getting Artest. But moreso for what he can bring to the the table as a 3rd scorer than for his much vaunted defense.

Dont forget - we are already a top defensive unit. We have lost mostly when we haven't been able to score enough baskets.

Those frustrating long scoring droughts SHOULD hopefully be a thing of the past now that we have 2 unique triple threat talents (Mac and Artest) added to the best scoring big man in the league.

And then on top of that signing you bring in a smart vet who can stand out there and make 3 after 3, at least in short spurts (Barry).

Scola and (assuming we can re-sign him - and that he's healthy) Mandry provide a good balance of inside scoring to assist Yao.

We have all the pieces now, no more excuses.

Our D has been championship level for years, now our offense is finally set.

Which leads me to believe an appropriate slogan for this season might of been "NOW OR NEVER".

there's only one question - can this team stay healthy.

that's it. if yes, we are a contender - that's all you can hope for.

if no, we're not. simple as that.

I just hope that they will be healthy for playoffs. Last season was the worst, Alston, Battier, Tmac, and Yao were injured....

apart from the offense, excited to see the Rockets play at the defensive end also especially against a one man team like Cavs where Battier and Artest can take turn to defend Lebron. Where the likes of Alston,Tmac,Hayes, and Yao can concentrate on the other guys

PLEASE tell me you are joking. I don't think anyone on this BBS will disagree that the team we have had the past few years has been "soft". Top notch, definitely top 5 (healthy, mind you), but soft. Now we have F'in RON ARTEST. He is going to bring so much toughness, intensity, excitement, not to mention ADD to the arguably best defensive team in the league. Dude, do you not remember we won 22 games in a row with T-Mac and a bunch of role players? I'm still a tad concerned about how he will fit offensively, especially during the beginning of the season. But hell, same happened with Yao first 40 games last season under Adelman (remember .500 start?). His defense, and attitude, are making me one hell of a happy Rockets fan this year. I believe he has grown up, forgetten his past, or even better LEARNED from it. He is a MAN now, nothing means more to him proving all the haters wrong. His incident in Detroit will always be a scar, but now is his time to shine and say hey, I've grown up. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes team leader. Tracy seems a little too laid bad and Yao, well, his english isn't so great. No offense to either cause I love them both....but....I can't wait!!!!!!! I'll be watching every minute this season as f'in possible. Anyone here not super excited, in my eyes, is a bandwagon fan. Its gonna be fun guys!
