Dell's link Anand review Dell just released their version of Asus eeePC today. Msi and Acer released their counterparts earlier this year I believe, the Msi Wind and Acer Aspire One. Hp has the Mini-note, but it starts out at $549+ where as the competitors start out at $349.
I have one of the super small sony's and I have loved it...it was a bit on the pricey side but the ease of use when I travel has made it worth every penny.
You can get one of these for 99.99 after a purchase of an xps m1330. I just got my m1330 about a month or two ago too. If only I held out a little longer.
I just bought the newer acer aspire one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EYVBE0/ref=nosim/?tag=fatwalletcom&linkCode=as1 much better value i believe
Buy.com just lowered their price of the Asus Eee PC 4G Surf 7 to 299 with free shipping. http://www.buy.com/prod/asus-eee-pc...-processor-512mb-4gb/q/loc/101/206529449.html
I guess I should have been a little more descriptive in my op. These mini-laptops or ultra portable? laptops is the best value for people who want a small/portable laptop for instant messaging, email, video, surfing the web, school or work. I used to own a dell 700m and for the price, it was a good deal at the time. These laptops blow the 700m out of the water in terms of portability, value and power. This is the perfect laptop for me. I don't play games, just need something to read the bbs or search for p*rn online, open spread sheets/word when i work or chat on aim/msn.
while we're on the subject of dell laptops, which is a better laptop if all the specs are the same, the inspiron or the studio? price comparison seems to show the studio is cheaper, but i always read the studio is inbetween the inspiron and the XPS, suggesting studio > inspiron. i know some of u guys here have alot of experience with different laptops, so help?
Haha, huge difference between a notebook and a netbook. Netbooks are limited in terms of functionality. They're not intended for gaming, running high bandwidth applications, or any 3D type work. There's no optical drives or anything either. It's basically an Atom CPU with 512MB - 1GB DDR2, 4-8GB storage, bluetooth, and wireless. Good for a coffee shop, bad for anything else. With notebooks as cheap as they are these days, you need to ask yourself if you really need one of these.
A Nokia N810 is smaller and cheaper than those laptops, and it can do almost everything those laptops can. I just don't see the point of those ultra portable laptops.
