i agree, he even switched up the pow bit, made it more honest and real about what it did to him he had a reputation of being a hot headed arrogant kid, the experience humbled him. he's never said that
Makes sense. To be honest I have been in Obama's camp, but after both conventions I have more trust and faith in McCain - can't explain it, but feel he is what the country probably needs during these times. I like his speech and the message he delivered.........will see how things shake out in the next few months. I for one don't think he is GWIII as many of you here have.
How do you think Bush beat Captain Boring himself, Al Gore? How about his lieutenant, John Kerry? Clinton V. Bob "I need Viagra" Dole?
You do realize that Bush doesn't even vote in the senate right? So in fact he votes with Bush 0%...but thats being too technical. McCain actually rates 65th out of his collueges in voting down party lines during the 110th Congressional session and 94th out of 100 senators in the 109th session. Obama ranks 12th with votes down his party line. Not a good record for someone who claims to be a uniter
Oh no, now Dakota has to change his tag line........... You probably need to go back to the GARM, it's more your strong suit.
McCain followed Bush down the path on the War in Iraq and the lack of accountability in spending there. Sorry, the Republicans need a time out. DD
I just feel that we're ultimately voting a particular party into office, no matter what either candidate is claiming. They all are trying to drive home this message of change, but let's be real. There are deep-seated institutional forces at work that will prevent a Republican president from straying too far from the established Republican platform, and I'd say the same about any Democratic president.
LOL - don't be so hard on yourself, sit back have a beer and relax. And hey, go shoot a moose !! And for the record, I have 7 posts in this thread as of now, and you have 6..... DD
He sat in congress for 26 years and now says he's a change agent...I just have a hard time believing that.I also have a problem with him voting with and sucking uo to bush to be the republican nommine.his comments about the economy being sound and hoim not knowing mich scare me
McCain was the 8th most conservative senator in the 110th and the 2nd most conservative in the 109th. Obama was the 10th most liberal in the 110th and the 21st most liberal in the 109th. http://www.voteview.com/sen109.htm http://www.voteview.com/sen110.htm
right?? i have huge disconnect with this point. how are you representing change? you've been in power for years now.
Now it is tied..7-7 To be honest, it is tough to shoot a moose in Houston, however the good news, you will be excited to hear, our next VP will be able to show us how to field dress it during one of the senate sessions........
It was a solid speech by McCain. It made Republicans feel really good and he'll get a convention bounce. But, IMO, the convention bounces rarely affect the election result. We have a 60 slog to November 4th. Unless the McCain campaign hides her when it starts getting hot, Palin will have a difficult time surviving scrutiny. That thought of her being a heartbeat away from the presidency scares me. Again, I think McCain did a good job and came across as likable. But I have to say this though, when he said his "administration would set a new standard for transparency and accountability", I wanted to vomit on the screen. There were also way too many references and discussion of his POW experience, which doesn't prepare one to be President of the United States. If I needed someone to join me in a foxhole, McCain is my man. If McCain hadn't sold his soul out to the Bush-ites, his speech would have really moved me.
They are really putting a lot of this election on Palin.....Newt was just on touting her, so was Rush..... I mean it is McCain not Palin who is running, and once they start tearing into Palin's staggeringly conservative views...her popularity will dwindle. I mean "No choice for rape victims" ....that is NOT going to resonate well...with the general public. DD
Not sure how to read those, but here's where I got my info from: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/senate/party-voters/ http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/109/senate/party-voters/ It clearly states how often they vote with the party.
