Dakota, You do realize you could put that into your signature, because all your posts are saying the same thing, we get it, your voting for Obama and think McCain is GW............
They just got saying 19-20 (more than Obama) of the 46 paragraphs were on kitchen table items or policies, so you might want to go back and re-listen. Now, I will say they were just overviews, but your not going into great detail during this speech, as Obama didn't - heck he would still be talking if he did.
he has a bad relationship with the chinese thouugh. bad idea. I want Lucy Liu or Nicole Kidman (need to change that whole born in the USA thing though)
in name only he banned .50BMG and now Barrett refuses to do business with California. All rifles sent to him for repair are kept and a refund is sent back.
I think we all have to agree that he was tough on the past eight years and condemned this administration pretty thoroughly. I hear a pundit on PBS express it very clearly, "McCain spoke as if he was representing a party that hasn't been in office for 12 years." I think for independent who sit right in the middle this will be very effective. He make no apologies for what Bush has done and I think tough speak is only going to grow the perception that he is not going to be what we've had.
I do not think he is GW.....but I just can not trust that he isn't.....90% voting record speaks volumes....if it was 75% I would probably be voting McCain..but 90%........with the idiot Bush? Nope.... DD
What happened? Damn, the old crypt keeper put me to sleep. Now I'm mad! I wanted to see all of what he said, and I only was able to stay awake for about 25% of it because he was so damned boring. Oh well, seems like me, most of you think it sucked also. I mean really...I love my country...but if this dude and his gal whose ass he likes to watch on tv wins, I might move to Canada until the next election.
I really don't have a problem with 8ain as a human being, but I know his hands are tied by the republican party. The man had to pick a VP he only met once because the forces in his party wouldn't let him pick the man he wanted.I didn't see the speech, but I did listen to it on the radio.
I think this was the strength of the speech - appealing to people who maybe felt the GOP that they knew left them behind. I think it was an effective speech - and I think you'll see more poll movement from this than the Palin speech yesterday (though that one energized the base). The main problems I have it are: 1. This John McCain has been missing for the past few years. He really reached back to the 2000 McCain, but it doesn't really fit his recent record. 2. This makes more sense in 2000 when the other party was in charge for many years. It's hard to argue "Yeah, we screwed up for the last 8 years. and I was part of it. But let me fix it!" But I don't think he'll get his convention bounce that I don't think he was going to get from the last few days.
I liked this speech in many important ways. It reminded me of why I was excited when he won the nomination. There is a disconnect, however. He (rightly) criticized the last 8 years and spoke of his will to change things, but his policy statements were, far and away, the same policies. "Tax cuts," "drill," (with the obligatory but undefined and unpaid for list of alternatives), and so forth. His only education statement was supporting vouchers and charter alternatives. He's against teachers' unions, the weakest, least successful, most underpaid union arguably on the planet. But still, I liked it overall. He spoke more like a centrist, and it's hard to doubt his sincerity in wanting what's best for the country. He was also, mostly, more respectful of Obama. That's refreshing. (I know it's typical to make the VP the attack pitbull with lipstick, but still.) I can't wait for the debates. If they aren't moderated by idiots, we may get some discussion of issues yet!
This is the confused part. This is the part that doesn't communicate well. You want change...but you voted with this administration about 90% of the time. You want change...but you're running under the same party that's been in the white house for the last 8 years.
The Presidency has become like a Realty Game show. It's all about character persona. We got a Maverick, a Hockey Mom, a Harvard Grad, and Biden. This election has become like Big Brother/Survivor/American Idol/America's Got talent all rolled into one. How sad.
