Word is scouts are gonna be watching Dunleavy hard and if he is around when the lotto balls fall our way Rockets will pick him up.
No way in hell the next Larry Bird.....that's Dirk's future. But he won't be as sorry as Laettner....problem is we need to get rid of a few players that would take up potential playing time. If he is around, I wouldn't hesitate to pick him up.
He's alright, but we really need someone who's good on D, which he isn't. We already have 3 guards that hardly play D.
Was Laettner really that sorry? As high pick draft busts go, he just isn't that high up there. He had a few years where he was "pretty good" and several others in which he was quite serviceable. His problems seemed to be with attitude and a refusal to work hard more than anything else. And afaik, Dunleavy doesn't really have those problems.
someday, someway, there just might be another player as good as Larry Bird, who wins as many rings as Larry Bird, and produces as many unbelievable shots and passes and heady plays, but we'll never see him bean Bill Lamebeer with a heater from 10 ft away in the Conference Finals like the Real Larry!!! someday, I want a son who practices ball in the driveway, and instead of doing the fantasy shot, "Rockets down by 2 with 5 seconds to go...4, 3, 2, 1....he shoots, scores! Rockets Win, Rockets Win! And the crowd goes wild" I want to see him go, "and there's a timeout on the court...OH, and he turns and drills Bill Laimbeer with a ball off the face. Did you see that Gene?" How Sweet It Is! And for the very same reason, there will never be another Barkley who bodyslams Shaq!
