Exactly, those products may not make money but they give google so much data that can be used for their advertising that it's worth it. Most companies spend millions on marketing research, google just uses that money to builds apps that allow people to give them the information for free.

And from a technology perspective they come out with some great ideas that have pushed development by competitors ahead, making the internet more useful for everybody. Check out http://labs.google.com/ for new stuff that they are working on.

All that being said, I wouldn't use their browser because of the privacy issues it raises.

I use Google for search and have some gmail accounts. I think searching while logged in is giving Google a little too much information on my surfing habits (especially if the account has used Google checkout before), but I might be in the minority.

What the Web Development community needs is not yet another browser to support. I pray for google's web browser quick demise.

Google Reader is for tracking RSS Feeds and Adsense is for pay-per-click advertising. I almost forgot to mention my favorite: Google Analytics.

It's available now, but I'm guessing the servers are getting slammed because I'm not able to dl it.

BTW, I'm listening to a podcast as I type, and they bring up a good point. The browser may be Google's attempt to optimize their applications and other cloud computing apps. FYI, some people theorize that in the future operating systems will become mostly irrelevant and your browser will be the main focus because everything you need or do will be online. This may be a sign of things to come...dun dun dun...

Yeah same here, I just downloaded it, I like it.
Except I don't like it showing my bookmarks when I open up a new tab.

I like it a lot. Clean, awesome interface. I like the shortcuts feature. Next they need to make it extensible.

I have to say, I like Chrome better than FireFox, but I'm staying with Opera.

Ok, why won't the scroll wheel on my mouse not work in Chrome? I love the interface, but it's annoying me that I can't scroll with the scroll wheel.
