This is too funny. Obama seems to think that running a campaign somehow gives him the experience necessary to deal with a hurricane. nevermind the nonsensical answer, he doesn't even run his campaign- that's what axelrod's job is.

and the Wa-SILLY dig is just classless. dude is a disaster w/o his telepromter and O-cropolis backdrop.

[rquoter](CNN) — Barack Obama defended his experience in dealing with natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, and took a swipe at newly minted GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

In an interview on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 Monday night, Obama was asked about whether his experience in the U.S. Senate dealing with weather-related situations compares to Palin’s executive experience running the state of Alaska and as the small town mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

[rquoter] AC: Some Republican critics say, you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this [Hurricane Gustav]. They’ve in fact said that Governor Palin has more executive experience as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state like Alaska. What’s your response?

BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.[/rquoter]

Our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the past couple of years and certainly in terms of the legislation I’ve passed in the past couple of years, post-Katrina.”[/rquoter]

Like i said, basso would have to start 2-3 more threads before the day is out to try to distract from the Palinberg bursting into flames. RNC has ordered ALL of its basketball BBS forces into Circle the Wagons mode.

    1 down, 2 to go.

OH ps...nice transcription of the word "uh" - which you spliced in yourself. - yeah that Obama, he's a terrible orator!

And where are McCain and Palin trying to force "hurricane plans" onto states that already have means of dealing with Hurricanes? IMO he has no say in how states operate during a time of a hurricane when states already have ways of dealing with it. We don't need nobody that has never been hit by a Hurricane in their own state telling us how to prepare for one in our state. That is why we have FEMA and other agencies. we don't need a Obama full proof Hurricane plan.

O please, you seen how we were prepared this time around so don't even go there. And then people never had a problem with FEMA, until Hurricane Katrina, the plans we have in place for all the southern states and eastern seaboard are just right.

I have been through 2 major hurricanes in the past 4 years, has Obama? Didn't think so.

Whether you want to believe it or not, Katrina was the reason Louisiana, Mississippi, others and the federal government were ready this time around.

LOL, I don't know how you can say this with a straight face. I know the federal government really put the screws to Louisiana during Katrina but it isn't like the state goevernment was doing a bang up job either.

Katrina was a failure at all levels. The mayor of NO and the gov of LA both failed in their duties and then the federal level just exacerbated the problem.

Largely because of the failures of Katrina.
