I haven't heard anyone say much about this guy. He seems to do a lot of things well, but no one thing extremely well. He can shoot 3's (38% this year), score (15 or 16 ppg), repound (7 or so rpg), and gets over a steal and block per game. The knock on him is that he's too unselfish, so with the clutter of shooters (Cat and Mobley) and up and coming superstar (EG) I would think that unselfish would be a strong suit on our team. He can shoot 3's almost as well as Walt, has T-Mo's defense and rebounding, but can add some ballhandling and passing skills. I personally wouldn't mind having the guy if we can't get Woods or Dunleavy (which is looking probable) and if he comes out. He's only a Sophomore so he could improve on our team. What do y'all think?
He's tall at 6'10 and that's nice for a small forward but after seeing him in a couple of games he looks slow. He can get down court well but after that he doesn't look like he can keep up with quicker guys in the NBA or out speed them to the basket for a shot on offense. In the games I've seen him he looks to post up 50 to 75% of the time and is pretty effective down low. We do need a post up player but he's alittle thin at 215 lbs and I don't know if he can post up stronger players that are in the NBA. He dribbles well but not in the sense that he can crossover anyone but well enough to dribble away from a double team. The thing I like about him is that even though he demands the ball often and looks to score he plays to his limits, I mean if he knows there isn't a shot he most likely will pass it to someone else instead of trying something difficult. He's more of a PF but trapped in a SF body. I like him but I wouldn't pick him too high, probably a late lotto pick to middle first rounder IMO.
Relativist - Jeffries is no where close to the skill level Odom was at when he entered the draft. The main difference in Odom to other SFs is that he's as quick as many SG in the NBA, can drive and crossover very well to get by players, and has the vision of a point. He drives by other SFs like Mobley does other SGs. He's just really good at creating shots. The bad thing is that he is also like Mobley in the judgement department, ie bad clutch player, often taking shots from 30 ft away with more than enough time to get a better shot, or taking a shot without knowing how much time is left. Skill wise I'd say Odom is similar to a young Pippen or Grant but with less of an outside shot. Kidrock gave a great example of what Jeffries could be, a Derrick Mckey in time.
