just price matched, returned cable, and returned extended warranty. saved $450. :) now i can go out and buy a TV for myself.

a dumb question. how do you setup LCD TV with dish network? as far as i know, the signal goes through the wall in regular cable line. just plug the new TV into the wall and then watch HD channels?

Line from the Dish outside to your wall will be run. From there, the line in your wall runs to a Dish receiver (satellite box). From the box, you run a component/HDMI/DVI cable to your TV. Then you get HD channels.

he needs to make sure he has an HD Box first.
the cable/satellite people should install this stuff for free.

LOL my parents don't have the HD package. they signed DVR thingy a couple of months ago for a 2 year contract. dish network is charging $150 for the installation for HD plus $10 per month more for the HD channels. they won't install for free. bastards. my parents are going to think about it. may end up just return the darn TV. :D

I was in the same situation last month. You just basically need to put your foot down and show them who's boss!

I ended up getting installation, the VIP722 DVR, and HD channels ALL FOR FREE (actually we are now paying 10 dollars a month less)

Sorry, I'm not going to make the call for you; some people just need to learn when it's appropriate to vociferate at people below them.

I promise I'm not a snob, I'm just better than any idiot customer service rep working for Dish.

really? well, it's my dad's account. my dad is doing all the talking. i will tell him to call again and say someone else got it for free in same situation. if they don't do it, they will lose a customer after the contract is up. :D
