I know morey said he wanted to make a few small trades, but is he done or should we be expecting a role player or something before the season starts?

let me make sure I understood this right...

you are proposing that we pay more to shaun livingston than landry?

I'm not even sure if there's any team proposing a league minimum contract for livinston at the moment...

I hope not, too much mixing and trixing wouldn't make the roster any better, some very small changes will probably occur like always but I rather see our roleplayers stay, guys like Luther (you're hating on him a little too much), Hayes, Francis etc. than trading them for other equivalent players, though all, it takes some time for every player to find their right spot on the team. I think we have a really good group now with both stars and great roleplayers and decent benchplayers. I don't see any reason to make any major or small changes.

We have too many players right now...I suggest we should trade chuck hayes(too many PFs here) + baits(maybe brooks) for pick up shooters. Reason is that brent is our only decent shooter but his age should limit his minutes.

    i don't think so.

if the rockets re-sign landry, deke, and sign dorsey they would then have a depth chart that looks similar to this:

    yao-deke-dorsey
    scola-landry-hayes
    ron-shane-harris
    tmac-barry-head
    rafer-brooks-steve

that's exactly 15 contracts, and 3 at each possition. seems like a perfectly balanced roster to me. no need for any other transactions.

i also like how the 3rd string is good enough to compete for minutes in the rotation. brooks/steve, barry/head, deke/dorsey/hayes.

all of them will push each other all season.

Luther will be traded for a backup big man, or the Rockets will trade Head for somebody like Adam Morrison, letting him ride the pine this year and hopefully get healthy in case Artest bolts. Then you have a outside shooting three that can put the ball on the floor if he every comes around. However the thought of losing Artest makes me sick.

ummm you do realize we traded our 09 1st rounder in the deal for Ron and we can't trade our 2010 pick yet because of that.

Head + Francis for Joe Smith

Livingston won't get more than the minimum for at least 1yr to see if he's in shape.

I wouldn't mind trading Luther for Sean Williams from the Nets or taking a look at Robert Swift he was a young talent, but had a couple of injuries. He's a free agent and is still young so for the right amount it might be worth the risk.

being acquired for his non-guaranteed contract doesn't invoke the most confidence that he will make the team rather than be cut.

he's a decent defensive player and has nice size when guarding point guards. he should be a nice guy to have around during training camp but nothing more.

he's one chance is only if an agreement cannot be reached with either landry or deke's contract and the team is left scrambling for a backup big guy. thus having to move head, maybe steve in order to bring in a replacement. that would open up a spot for him.

i don't see that happening though. if the rockets were worried at all about not resigning landry they would've given him a deadline to decide, so they would have time to replace him.

Update: Swift, a restricted free agent, received a $3.57 million qualifying offer Friday from the Sonics, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.
Analysis: The qualifying offer allows the team to match any contract offer he might receive from another team. Swift has played only eight games the past two seasons because of two season-ending knee surgeries.

I dont think swift is worth it, hes too expensive and has only 8 games under his belt, as well as for sean williams i dont think nets would give him up, but boone i think they wouldnt mine trading away.
