If Rashard Lewis didn't go to HS in Houston, would he still exist?

Would anyone even care about Rashard Lewis if he didn't go to high school in Houston? I mean I personally don't care about him anyway, but for everyone else?

It's just weird to see so much gushing over such a ho-hum player. It was great to see Walt tearing him a new one last night.

From a fantasy standpoint, (and this depends a lot on your league rules) he's a monster. In the Yahoo leagues, he's a top 20, maybe top 10 guy.

Averages 17 points a game, 7 rebounds, a steal and a half. He doesn't turn the ball over much, he shoots the 3, and he shoots a good percentage.

:)

Better than a shot in the foot.

Oh... did I just quote stats?

Freak is right though, he would be a nice player, but everyone would not be so enamored with him.

Of course, if the Rockets would have done their homework and drafted him instead of that STIFF Turksan all this would be moot.

Maybe the answer to all our small forward needs is to bring Turkan in! Rudy is a genius! He never makes mistakes, so we know Turkan is a gamer.

:)

Maybe one day it'll all make sense.

We probably do overrate him since he's from Houston. But I think some people overrate Rockets players for the same reason.

Not really. Didn't you and DaDakota used to gush over the biggest ho-hum player this side of Raja Bell....Shandon Anderson. or should I have said Dan Langhi, DaDaDan

Another way of saying this is that you'll be the first poster to start a "LEWIS SUCKS" thread, if we do land him.

------------------------
So Darkhorse, I've got a stat for your fantasy league. For the last 23 games (roughly the time since Mobley's ankles have been fully 100%), Cuttino is

26.0ppg
47.5% FGs

Over an entire season, that combination would rank 2nd only to one other player in the entire league....do you want to make a guess who that is? If Cat went to HS in Houston, would the BBS finally gush over him being the sexiest player in the NBA?

Here's another cool stat for a ho-hum Rocket who is overrated...

Since the day Kenny learned that Superstar PFs were punch-and-run p*****s...(18 games), he is

15.7 ppg
8.2 rpg
52.7% FG

Don't people usually gush over young, pf free agents with those numbers?

If Kenny went to HS in Houston, would TheFreak start a thread about him, and would Kidrock8 still start "KENNY SUCKS" threads?

hmmmmm

GO RAGING BULL!

Freak,

Put the crack pipe down, this guy is a player in the L and teams covet a 3 like him. Remember, Seattle played in Dallas the night before. Your analysis of comparing to Walt Williams is a joke, go ask Eddie since you believe everything he tells you.

Crispee - Unfortunately, through a strange twist of fate, I didn't actually draft my fantasy team. I have bemoaned not having Cuttino on my team since day one. Try as I did, nothing could wrench him from the evil clutches of the owner who DID draft him.

GRRRRR.... good thing I'm in first place now, and he's 4th from the bottom! :)

Yes, Steve and Cuttino are machines in fantasy. Kenny has been very very very solid, and Eddie has had crazy flashes at times.

None of that diminishes Rashard's fantasy value.

;)

If by gush you mean defend him from being a scapegoat and personal attacks, then yeah.

But I never spent an entire year fantasizing about him being in a Rocket uniform while he was playing for another team. I never kept relentlessly harping on the fact that we passed on him, a second-round pick, in the draft. That's sorta what I meant by 'gushing'.

I guess we'll see if this is true this off-season. But I seriously doubt the number of fans from other teams outside of Houston that constantly daydream about Rashard Lewis is through the roof.

Who's comparing the two? I'm simply glad that Walt kicked his ass all over the court last night. You know, since I'm a Rocket fan and all.

Kenny Thomas is getting better every year, too. And it's harder to find 4's with decent ball skills than 3's that can fire long range bombs.

I think TheFreak has a very good point, though I wouldn't agree entirely. Rashard is a deadly shooter. But it's beginning to seem like that's all he really is. Very one-dimensional. Not that I don't want him.

But I'm in the camp that wouldn't give him the max or trade Kenny and a #1 for him.

Rashard is dumber than Hen Sh#t from a educated standpoint and from what I know and do not ask me to share my sources but he cheated his way through high school.
Only reason he jumped to the Nba because he could not make the grade to play college Ball.

He has Nba talent and hes a good ball player but brain wise hes STUPID:D

Einstein,

How many of us go to games to see Rashard solve math problems or run a chemistry lab? I go to NBA arenas to watch the best athletes in the world play basketball. It's that simple.

The better question would be: "If RocketsPimp went home with a Hooker, could he show his face at Aussies again?"

Actually it takes Brains to make plays and accomplish them.
Clearly last night was reason why Rashard will be a mediocre player he is scared as hell to take a buzzer beater in his hometown instead it is passed off to Jobanke or whatever the hell his name is.

I read somewhere that Turcan got the MVP of the Russian League averaging like 18 ppg and 13.9 rpg or something like that.

Yeah, I bet had Rashard done better in his geometry classes he might have made a better decision last night.

You are going to base your (weak) arguement from what happened last night?? It's pretty obvious you haven't kept up with what Rashard has accomplished this season so there is no sense in debating this issue with you.

Take care.

LOL!

Those were 2 classic posts from a great Bee Gees fan.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to have Lewis, but I wouldn't want to overpay for him. To me, he is worth only at the most 5 million a season. Granted, he still has a tremendous upside due to his age, but I'm afraid that he has started to get one-dimensional.

Unfortunately, I missed last night's game, so I can only go by what I have read here; however, if my assumption is correct that he is becoming one-dimensional, then I'll pass even for less than 5 million...maybe stop at 1 million. We have too many of these "1-D" types already.

Plus I would like to see the Rockets keep KT and their draft pick. If anything, I would like to see Mo get moved - not Kenny. But seeing hell freeze over would be a more likely possibility than seeing Mo get traded.

Actually I know Rashard very well andI know for a fact Cat nor Steve want him on this team...........so deal with it!
So what big deal Rashardis having a good season but it won't last he will try to use Houston to get more money from the Sonics.
His numbers don't impress me at all. Not to give up what we have now.
How's this for a classic post Rashard Lewis is overrated
