The only people that are going to get their panties in a knot about this 17 year old mama-to-be are the Morality Police. Which is to say, people who would NEVER vote for Obama anyway. None of the social conservative church ladies are going to be changing their vote to Obama because of this. I think it's awful that kids get attention because their parents are public people, but that's the way it goes. If anyone benefits from this, it's Bob Barr. And yes, McCain's jokes are funny. Funny in a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Don Rickles, Red Foxx, kind of way, which is to say, totally inappropriate for a presidential candidate. These kind of gaffes aren't going to change the minds of his core supporters any more than Jessie Jackson's anti-semetic remarks in the 80's did for his (which I think were way worse). That being said, while he's not my first or second or probably even third or fourth choice of president, McCain's IS fully qualified for the Borscht Belt or Vegas.

You now for the large part I avoid this place as it just seems advertise a forum for true debate but is actually just a place where TJ's little group along with Batman's little group come to post insult threads guised as debate threads. For once though I was drawn back into this forum because of Major's thread for undecided moderates because I am an the definition of a moderate. I was raised by a mother who was a hardcore republican and a father who was a hardcore democrat. It was basically like a Dharma and Greg situation in reverse lol!! The end result is that they raised a son who is a moderate who has always voted a split ticket. Ultimately though I abstained from the thread because for a large part (but not totally) it became another insult thread. That being said for a voter like me this story has a relevance marker of 0 when it comes to me judging Palin. It certainly isn't a reflection of her. As a parent of 8 kids myself I know for a fact that ultimately it is up to them to do the right thing regardless of how well we raise or teach them. As far as Palin's position on how to reduce underage/premarital sex/unwanted pregnancies. I could give a crap about those positions and the Dem positions as well. Because no matter what both sides want to do their ideas are ultimately going to fail. Aside from brainwashing our kids and forcibly making our daughters take birth control nothing is ever going to put a long lasting dent in underage/premarital sex or unwanted pregnancies. The ideas that are being touted today might create a little momentary dent but nothing more. I mean lets face from the time a guy hits 13 his sole purpose in life basically becomes to get laid all the while not using a rubber. As long as that major wild card exists there will never be a solution to the problem. There are more significant problems out there that need to be addressed at this point in time and for the foreseeable future. I also have to ask the Dems here on this board. What is it with all this self destructive behavior? Lets face it in 04 you had an election that was basically gift wrapped to you and you managed to screw that up. You even had basically your largest voter turnout ever and you still lost because you poked and prodded and aggravated the Rep. base into such a frenzy that turned out in even larger numbers which resulted in four more years of W. 2006 rolls around and you basically sustained from the actions you took in 04 and completed dominated those elections. But 08 rolls around and here we are again with the self destructive behavior. This race shouldn't even be close at this point ,but as in 04 out comes the self destructive behavior. I mean lets see to date in this election race you have made a mockery of your primaries, pissed off a couple of states along with a large amount of women, and ultimately proved that when the shoe is on the other foot that every vote doesn't count and to go one better now your firmly swimming in political trailer trash stories that has a better than average chance of blowing up in your faces and swaying a large portion of women who might just take offense to all the insults being slung about because they can relate to this girl's predicament. I just don't get. You once again have a gift wrapped election right in front of you ,but once again you are poking, prodding, and aggravating a Rep base that you know can turn out in extremely and absurd massive numbers if given the proper motivation. Through your own actions you have made this race much closer than it should be. Its at a statistical dead heat right now and it shouldn't be. If your waiting for the debates to decided things remember you did exceedingly well in 04 as well and look how that turned out. My best advice to you (although it will probably just fall on deaf ears) is stop playing all these games, stop the massive influx of insults and hyping of bs stories, and most importantly stop the continual harassing of the Rep base and this election is yours. You are not going to beat them at a game that they are superior at playing. Abstain from this and the election is in the bag, don't and your more than likely going to end up pissed off for four more years.
