I am so close. I am; 6'2", 160lb., 20 years old, so if I don't get it soon, I am never gonna be able to.

I can palm the ball, but when I go up to dunk I lose it in the air. So I have to dunk with 2 hands.

Yesterday, I was throwing it in and touching the rim. I am pretty sure I could slam down a college ball with a lot of grip.

Should I just keep doing squats and leg press?

Sounds like you just need to learn how to hold the ball better. I can't palm it, but I could dunk one handed. It's all about momentum - if you bring it around a certain way it's not going to fall out. Oh, and I gained 4 inches of vert one summer by using the Strength Shoes.

When I was a teenager I had my basketball rim set at 9 feet. I was only five and a half feet tall (And I'm about that now!) and I could do 360 dunks at that height.

I had a really good vertical leap and still do now even though I do nothing even close to sport any more.

5'8", am Chinese, and 20 this year.

Got small hands and relatively short arms so I've only dunked on a 9-foot rim. That was a couple years back when my knees were still spry.

Nowadays with a bad knee I doubt I can even get up that high anymore, so I usually just stick to my runners, floaters and fadeaway jumpers.

That's really not that impressive. That's like a 6'6" person being able to do 360 dunks on a normal rim. Look at CCR, he's doing the same thing at 5'9".

Sorry mate but thats not right. I mean, if I was 6'6" I could go up for a dunk, have lunch, maybe make a phone call, and still throw it down on rim at a normal height.

Look at it this way, would you say someone who was 4'9" who can do a 360 dunk on a 9 foot ring was not impressive?

Anyway, I'm not looking to get into a p*ssing contest.

No worries, me either. I'm just saying...if you're 5'6" (standing reach of around 7 to 7.5 feet) dunking on a 9 foot rim doesn't take crazy hops. 30 inch vert at the most if I'm calculating it correctly (albeit a couple few more for a 360).

I am 5'11" and by no means all that athletic any more. I coached my son's Basketball team this summer and we played kids vs adults games (It was to encourage the kids to pass, we would block their shot if 3 people didn't touch it). The rims were 8' so we were throwing it down on the offensive end. I really had a blast with the small balls and short rims. And small defenders :).

I wish I had hops like CCR. You can fly my man.

I'm about 5'9" with sneakers on and I can touch the rim, but I can't dunk a basketball. I can dunk a tennis or a golf ball though.

at 6'2 160 you should be dunking easily. Lift more weights and do explosive exercises like squats and calf raises and standing medicine ball jumps.

I am about 6'0'' tall. I used to dunk very easily with one and two hands, but after recent ankle injuries, it's hard to grab the rim with two hands. It sucks, I don't know if I'll ever be the same.

Personally, I would put the emphasis on abs and lower back above legs. One thing you'll notice about most these kids that have never lifted a weight in their life but can still jump like crazy on the basketball court is that some of them have chicken legs, but they all have a strong, lean core.

Other than that, I would suggest that you just jump as much as you can. If you go to shoot baskets by yourself or something, try to touch the backboard on every layup, or jump as high as you can to grab each rebound. There's really no better way to get better at something than to actually do it, right?

I was dunking in high school and through college, but I can't anymore at age 36 with a bad left wheel.

I am 6'2" and about 195 lbs....but was lighter in high school and college....more like 170 to 175.
