exactly what I thought...more of a ploy than anything. I think the negative ads might have caused some backlash.
the same deed has been done by the dems this week. every speaker has commended mccain on his heroism and patriotism and so on. and i'm sure obama will personally say that tonight.
Yes, Bill Clinton said it best: great, courageous man who loves his country. And wrong place, wrong time, wrong party for the job of moving this nation toward fixing itself. Likewise, McCain can and should say Obama is a great story, a smart and able person who loves his country. But he's simply too inexperienced to take over during this exact crucial time.
I'm guessing McCain has already called Obama to congratulate him. If not during the convention when the primaries ended. A nice touch by McCain and I've already been impressed by how often both camps have taken to pains to emphasize there differences aren't personal. Biden and both Clintons made it very clear they not only respect McCain but get along with him personally and I imagine Obama will also make a statement like that tonight.
I thought he was going to do it (announce his running mate) the day after Obama's speech or so? I wouldn't be surprised if it was leaked on the day of though.. politics for ya!
and i'm sure obama will run an ad congratulating his opponent next week, just to return the gesture. but let's be real, mccain has been so negative lately with his ads that this was a MUST.
This move by McCain is psychological warfare of the highest order. It's a move that The_Conquistador himself steps back and says DIOS MIO what a brilliant move! You've got the contrast of Obama continuing on with his self-aggrandizement and negative campaigning towards McCain juxtaposed against a classy move by McCain. Who wins? McCain wins. No one can say that McCain hasn't been a couple of chess moves ahead of Obama in the last 2 months of this campaign. In a year where Generic Democrat wins by 15 points, McCain is leading in several battleground states and is virtually tied in the popular vote estimates. It's brilliant psychology on display folks, sit back and enjoy it.
its a great moment for negros every where but at same time iam nervos about obama speaking in open stadium i fear the american dream will turn into american nightmare if any thing happens to him
Tomorrow it's back to this... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1nA1MwOE86U&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1nA1MwOE86U&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Tomorrow it's over.
The worst thing that could happen to him tonight would be for his teleprompter to quit working in the middle of the speech.
are you saying mccain hasn't bee negative? yes it's a democratic year. but the reason it's close is yes b/c of mccain's good politics focusing in on his inexperience. obama is young and new to the scene and most people really want to know who he is and how he's gonna change america. america will know more about him after this speech. we'll see. i'm sure obama will have a 10+ pt lead after this convention.
If this move is "classy" then it can't be psychological warfare. Classy doesn't come with a hidden agenda. Pick a side and stay there.
I couldn't help but to laugh at that. LOL. I hope he got some good monitors because the echo in that stadium is going to be unbearable to listen to for the people there. I imagine he will talk relatively slow and pause from time to time. We'll see how that translates for TV if it comes across evangelical.
