Doesn't the procedure to open/close a bank require two employees, one in the front and one in the back???

I could, and I have. In fact, they turned my life story into a movie.

The best way to rob a bank is to first become the bank's president.

I would love to, but I would rather do a Ocean's Eleven type of heist, bluffing and double-bluffing the main guy inside it. Or maybe a Joker-type heist, have everybody kill each other and then get all the swag yourself. Lol.

Here's my plan: Have a bank that stands alone, with a decent sized car park. Then make sure there are tons of people and loads of cars in the car park. Then phone in and call a terrorist alert (a bomb or something). When the police or more likely SWAT comes in, take out of the SWAT team (this is the hard part) and insert your own paid "SWAT'' team to go and 'protect' the bank. When you are inside, cut the power (so the cameras won't work), and start taking out the money. Then bring out a real bomb that has just been disarmed (so the threat seemed real) and then 'take' it back to HQ and when in the van, split the loot amongst yourselves.

There we go, a perfect plot to rob a bank. But of course, the money to pay the guys pretending to the SWAT team would probably be more than what you can steal anyway.

Oh yeah, and this was an, ah, mental exercise.

I wouldn't have a problem keeping my mouth shut if I did it, but getting the nerve to actually do it is the hard part.

You know banks pass on the cost of being robbed to the consumers, right?

not really. real police are going to want the 'terrorist' that the SWAT supposedly took. police will also question SWAT if the money is gone thinking they took. someone is goin to talk and youre caught.

    Can't be that hard:

First you need to find a crew. You need a safe cracker and an alarm expert who can intercept the silent alarm call. Then you need two gun/bag men, well three, but you as the mastermind pretend to just be the third guy. You need disguises, something with flair, like clown masks. You also need a yellow school bus and a driver who the rest of the crew won't know about. You need to plan your robbery on the day of a school field trip that will be passing by the bank at the precise moment that you exit.

First, your safe guy and alarm guy need to blah blah you know where I'm going with this:

Misdirection seems to work well. Several years ago some thieves called in a bomb threat to one side of League City. When all of the cops (low crime, these guys get bored) were on the other side of the city, they robbed Cracker Barrel. I have no clue why they hit a crummy restaurant instead of a bank, but it was pretty smart.

I don't know about robbing a bank...but I have wondered about how easy it really would be to kill someone and get away with it. That probably sounds a little psychotic, but I'm not, I promise. :)

No, I wouldn't have guts to do it.

I'd probably pee in my pants right before I attempted to rob the bank. :)

I heard about this guy, walked into a federal bank with a portable phone, handed the phone to the teller, the guy on the other end of the phone said: "We got this guy's little girl, and if you don't give him all your money, we're gonna kill 'er."

If you're gonna rob a bank, do it big...90 million dollars in cash.

This thread reminded me of the E:60 story about a former UFC fighter pulling off the biggest cash heist ever.

I would only rob a bank if I got to play games and torture the cop that killed my brother while I was moving the loot..

i dont know robbing a bank seems way to hard nowadays with all the cameras and advances in vault locks/security.

i think a well-planned robbery of an armored vehicle may be safer and actual net more money out the door. Even though they are tracked with all the stops they make to do pickups it may not be too bad. it just needs to be planned just right. location, timing, escape routes, timing.

as others have said, i don't think i'd have the nerve. i'd be more nervous than the people i was robbing. plus, with cameras, police, that dye they put in the money, some person in the crowd trying to stand up to you, too many things could go wrong for not enough reward.

also, when your bus comes crashing back through the bank wall, with concrete wall falling all off of it as it zips back in line with the other buses, you need everyone else in line to think that that's normal and nothing to bother the police with.

everyone's thought about their various alibis, crime scene cleaning up procedures, and body disposal locations/methods. i mean, you don't wake up planning to kill someone, but it's best to be prepared. you don't wanna look stupid in front of the cops.
