There aren't. This is simply the US American media's new pet story, and they will run it against all data and odds, just to avoid doing the hard work of reporting.

    b****es be crazy!

"I feel disrespected so I'm going to vote for somebody who doesn't respect me or my political opinions either."

Too many (not all) women let their emotions override the rational parts of their brains.

They can feel disrespected, but it wasn't Obama that did the disrespecting. That's one of the main reasons why it's so silly.

i agree it's silly, and i'm astonished by this - but it's there, right in our faces, and clearly it's an emotional decision and not one based on rational self-interest (or at least based on the principles they espoused).

I think it's hard on a lot of woman because they were very excited about a woman president - and they are angry (unfairly) at Obama because he is the reason Clinton isn't running for president, and in a weird way, they want him to lose. There rationale is that if Hillary won't get it, then neither will Obama. And perhaps they see Hillary getting it in 2012.

Now - regardless - there are some percentage of Hillary Clinton supporters who feel this way. We can all see that. What they will do in Novemeber, and what their actually number is - well that's the million dollar question. But I think this election will hinge on that group.

And what they say can be very damaging and may make it moot - criticizing Obama may convince independents to go for McCain.

This is a very serious matter.

I knew it sounded like B.S. That's the first "Clinton supporter" I've ever heard question Obama's religion.

excerpt from a margaret carlson/bloomberg column today - no web link - sums up nicely:

The anger has gotten wall-to-wall coverage in recent days
by too many reporters chasing too few stories in Denver. There
were as many reporters covering aggrieved women as there were
aggrieved women. That's partly because the usual journalistic
principle --- if it bleeds, it leads --- is set on its head at
an event that's a scripted pageant, not a drama.
If you want some excitement, you are going to have to find
it. If you can't get the principal to say what you want (and
Clinton's not playing the victim game) go to the man and woman
in the street. Take down quotes until you get one or two that
support your premise. File. Go to dinner.

They had a pretty good breakdown of the divisions among women voters on PBS yesterday evening before the convention started. Older white women polled overwhelmingly for McCain on what they called 'cultural issues' which as I read it was a euphemism for racism ( as I got flamed for suggesting last week) The other factor was perceived experience and readiness for the office.

They went on to show how McCain had consistently voted counter to what is generally considered women's interests and concluded that may people do not vote on issues but on the 'culture' of the candidate.
