All team's had to pay their cash so the league could advance to the new era (OTTP4). The money was well spent and can not be refunded.
ok. thanks heath. did i miss that announcement? if I did, my bad. if not, i would've dropped some players first...
Yea, that sorta sucks. Fortunately, I wasn't really planning on signing anyone in free agency (although a cheap OF would have been nice) and I'm through with all my extensions. I am more concerned about the next season, and if I'm going to have enough cash to re-sign the key players for the following season. This may sound like a really stupid question, but with the new version out, will your free agent money pool and extension money pool change compared to what it is right now? Also, I like the email messages - that's a neat feature. You can tell the Milwaukee GM - thanks but no thanks on that trade offer, one reason being I don't even know if I can afford that player plus I can't even look at the other team's financial status because that part of the game is loading incredibly slow for me. Also, you can tell Adam Eaton that if he thinks he is better than any of the 5 guys ahead of him in the starting rotation, then I would be more than glad to let him start, but I don't see it - he's lucky that his ass still isn't in AAA!!
yeah, the emails are cool. i got one from omar daal and he said: 'you do know i'm a starting pitcher, right?' i laughed out loud, and then put him in the starting lineup just for having the balls to talk to me like that (i thought about cutting his ass, but i can't afford it anymore!)
Revenue is altered somewhat. Not sure in all ways how, yet. Some teams took overall revenue hits (me )... a few teams improved revenue. EVERYONE lost their cash reserves. What you have now... is what you've made THIS YEAR ONLY. Sorry about that. Didn't warn you, because I had no idea it would happen. I guess it's a conversion bug, or something.
Man, this revenue stuff is screwy. Doesn't seem right to let random changes to revenue affect the game. I assume we're going to set them back to the old numbers if possible? Assuming the number in parentheses still reflects the previous season's revenue, I know several are inaccurate. Mine, for instance: last year I pulled in 93 million, but the number only says 83. What's the sim-reason for a change like that? Also a few questions of my own: (1) what determines "fan interest"? (2) what does the "clutch" rating mean in practice? (3) what does the "team leader" rating mean? Does a team need "leader" players, and if so do they need to be starters?
ok, I've been looking at the new revenues a bit. I *think* they're going to be unimportant. Why? Because it doesn't seem to affect how revenue sare going this season. In fact, in most cases, "last year" revenue seems to have been set at about 2-4m above payroll in every case. However, my team has about 82 in revenue this year. Last year, it had 96, according to the computer. I'm definitely going to exceed that. So let's not worry about the situation until we're sure something's wrong, besides a few #'s that don't affect this year. Here's what the manual has to say: Team Market and Fan Loyalty: Team Market is the size of the fan base in the team's home city. Obviously, there is a larger market in New York, for example, than in Kansas City. Fan Loyalty measures the reliability of fans in terms of attending home games. Some fans are loyal to their teams through good times and bad, while others are fickle, sometimes even regardless of the team's performance. Both Team Market and Fan Loyalty are variable, and can change on a yearly basis. Current Fan Interest: The current "buzz" surrounding the team. Fan interest is variable during the season, and is related to the team's performance, its prospects for post-season play and/or the excitement of a new season getting underway. Ticket Prices: The default ticket price is $10, but can range from $1 to $20. Ticket prices may be changed at any time during the season. Fans are typically sensitive to ticket price changes, particularly in markets with lower fan loyalty. Manual says nothing about it, except mentioning that it exists. Manual doesn't say much here either. All you get is: Team Leader Ability Player's ability to "bring out the best" in other players on the team
Thanks for the quick response haven! The revenue thing makes sense. I guess we'll all figure out the new stuff eventually. Maybe someday if I get really, really bored at work I'll search for some more info on clutch and leadership info. Even though, IMO, those are 2 basically meaningless ways to judge a player.
My glorious, glorious money!!!! All gone, all gone, all gone, all gone, all gone, all gone, all gone, all gone, all gone.
Ok here is the deal. I have simmed thru several seasons just to see what happens. Money is not an issue. I have never had trouble with running out of money. With the new tv deals and the addition of promotions and also the standard ticket price is defaulted to 10 in OOTP4. I actually have not looked to see if in the conversion it set us all to 7 but i do know that in my normal league it is 10 and there are no ill effects on attendance figures. CK
