Gimme Kirk Hinrich. He can catch-and-shoot off kick-outs just fine. AB and BB could back him up. Rafer, Luther, and Chuck to da Bulls... We'll see.

Delonte West would be a great fit on this team and almost the perfect missing peice in a backup role complementing Rafer's steady-handedness (but scoring inabilities). But if it came down to a choice between him and Landry, assuming the latter is healthy, I'll take Landry any day. His athleticism and ability to finish around the hoop gave this team a frontcourt dynamic it hadn't seen since Robert Horry's rookie season.

The problem is, I don't think Carl is healthy.

I think Delonte would be a good fit, but I don't think the rockets are looking for someone at his salary level. I forsee someone much more unproven, and consequently cheaper, but with decent skills, especially defensively.

I would much rather trade Luther ($1.962 mil), Chuck ($1.768 mil) and Brooks ($1.045 mil); for a total of about $4.785 mil for Delonte West. That's gives both teams some needed help and the math works, and we don't give up too much of our immediate bench to get him; yet he becomes part of the immediate bench. Btw, Rafer makes $4.9 mil this year. So we have the right resources for the deal to work for both teams if they desire to do it. But maybe Morey has something better up his magic sleeves.

If Mandry isn't healthy, then he should be getting surgery done on his knee etc etc.

If it turns out his knee is stuffed and Baker is holding out for guarenteed money before he gets it seen to, i'm gonna be waaaay pissed off.

I would love to add Delonte somehow. But Cleveland is waiting him out to sign a qualifying deal or to match an offer sheet. Just don't see it happening and it's not worth giving up Chuck. I'd give up Chuck and Rafer in a deal for Hinrich but not Delonte.

Sign and trade Rafer and Luther for Delonte!!!

and that means we're offering about 4 million for West which is perfectly reasonable and suits West.

I see no reason not to give up Rafer if it means we're getting back Delonte. Delonte has been in the intense playoffs atmosphere before in the last playoff series and proved he can handle to pressure. And the bonus is Delonte is clutch!!!

I'm sure Cleveland wouldn't mind a seasoned starter like Rafer to be their primary backup to Mo.

    I thought of that too.

But on hindsight, do you seriously think it's a good idea to trade

    a) a sharpshooting, albeit undersized combo guard,
    b) one of the most efficient defensive power forwards in the league,
    c) a promising young point guard,

for the grand total of a backup combo guard?

We'd be giving up waaay too much. In any case, I think Chuck's impact on the game is arguably comparable to, if not bigger than, Delonte's hypothetical impact would be.

Please read through the thread before making statements that re-ignite dead-horse discussions like that.

The whole premise that the majority of posters on this thread have been discussing's the fact that Delonte West is a good piece to add to Rafer's game. It wouldn't be wise to do a straight up trade.
