HOUSTON -- The agent for Houston Texans receiver Harry Williams does not want his client to play football again. Williams suffered a neck injury Friday night against the Dallas Cowboys and will undergo surgery Sunday.

The procedure will be to repair a neck vertebra.

Williams was paralyzed from the neck down immediately after the injury but team doctor Walter Lowe said later that night he regained feeling in his arms and legs.

There is no way to determine at this point if Williams can ever play football again.

"Is he going to play football again?," asked Harold Lewis, who represents Williams out of the St. Louis-based firm, National Sports Agency. "I would pay Harry not to play again.

"After what he has been through, I would find him a job so he doesn't have to play football. I would honestly pay him not to play."

Lewis said he has spoken with Williams and that initially his client was having a difficult time dealing with his situation.

"I spoke to Harry (Saturday) morning and at first he was very down," said Lewis. "He said what am I going to do and I said Harry do you realize how lucky you are. You were paralyzed from the neck down and literally the hand of God came down and touched you."

Lewis said he and a number of his clients were having dinner in St. Louis when he got the news from a Texans official about Williams.

"I am 51 years old and I had tears coming out of my eyes," Lewis said. "My players asked me what was going on and after I told them they started tearing up as well.

"I am talking about some of the biggest linemen you have ever seen. We all said a prayer for Harry and it was answered."

Lewis said It is expected Williams will be able to lead a normal life after the surgery. A life that may not include football, and as far as his agent is concerned, is hardly an issue right now.

That's pretty honorable...rare for an agent.

That there is my favorite Sports Agent. That guy sounds like all class, of course he could be talking out of his ass. But either way, he sure sounds awesome in this article.

    Harold Lewis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Buddy Baker

Sorry, had to post it. Great agent to say that though, even if he may get a little publicity out of it.

IMO professional football players are the only professional athletes that actually earn their sky-high salaries. These guys literally put their lives on the line with every snap of the ball.

Ironically, it always seems to be the special team guys that are trying so hard to make a name for themselves that end up getting hurt because they just lay it all on the line for every second they’re on the field.

Even the players that don’t sustain injuries can end up like Earl Campbell when they get older. Football is just such a BRUTAL game, so much more so than basketball or baseball (LOL). I can understand why so many former players don’t want their sons to follow in their footsteps.

I’d like to see the Texans dedicate the 2008 season to Harry Williams.

Harold is a class agent compared to many others.

He showed it when he was on the agent reality show on Spike a few years back.

Buddy Baker would say he was fine, refuse to let him take medical tests and make up fake offers from Indiana and Europe.

Worse then Borasshole in that he's a complete idiot and should be selling snowcones instead of representing athletes.

The football players also have the weakest union. I mean for the amount the nfl makes why don't they have guaranteed contracts. I know there are more injuries in football, that is why if I was a player I would definitly fight for a guaranteed contract.
