EA aren't idiots, they have seen the 1ratings for 2K Vs. Live. I'm sure they will put the 2K developers on Live.
These guys were just jealous of: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-MarHk64UR0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-MarHk64UR0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
people play mortal kombat back in the day.. cause they sucked at street fighter! Mortal Kombat has a block button. what lameness!
So true. I could never get used to that crap. And the fatalities and stuff were so gimmicky. Their storyline seemed decent though, although I never followed it. I owned MvC2 on the PS2. My friends who were big MK guys (I am a Capcom dude) lost to me over 1000 times in a row. I never lost on my PS2 at MvC2. Never. At the arcades... I probably lost less than 15 times. I had that game down to a science. I even knew which characters were overpowered, and when combos would be more or less effective than super moves. I was a scientist.
Kombat did have the better movie, I give it that. And that techno song is pretty good. also Kombat was never fun to watch except for the fatalities. A bunch of people jabbing and tripping away when they get close. At least with Street Fighter its pretty much poetry in motion.
Im really starting not to like EA. First they do a half ass job on madden 08 on ps3. Now they are trying to acquire the developers who created the BEST basketball game ever!!
Disagree. I was fantastic at both. MK was a refreshing change. Maybe you should give it another shot. I don't see how pressing a button is better or worse than pulling the opposite direction on the joystick. But I do agree that SF2 was much better and deeper.
well pressing a button requires less skill than attempting to block a Ken cross over combo. Plus you can fake your opponent who is blocking by the low/high attacks. its not like i never tried playing MK. I think MK 2/3 were ok. you end up playing that game to try out the fatalities. I know the game is not out, but NO WAY is MK vs DC could touch the MV vs CP series. Marvel vs Capcom started that whole tag team system and the combos were insane.
EA is screwing up everything. I hope they never get it. And that was a real stupid decision by Marvel to jump to Activision and then even dumber to try to cover for the failure by going with EA. At least Activision had some decent games(X-Men legends, Marvel Ult. Alliance). Wasn't EA supposed to put out some Imperfect Perfects game or something like it!? Whatever it is I'm sure its garbage. Marvel needs to go back to Capcom and get some real games developed.
i saw the video of it the other day and i was like weak... then i was like... holly shiet! ! ! damnnnnnnn
I know what you mean. There are few articles that even put the "overrated" label on Mortal Kombat. I've never seen anyone say such a thing about Street Fighter. Because, only fool would have such a gall to even think of such a thing. Mortal Kombat was a fad, plain and simple. Street Fighter was a Van Gogh painting, in contrast. The thing never gets old, just look at which game has better lifespan. Street Fighter is one of the best moving fighting games ever. Capcom > Midway, Activision, and whoever. Marvel > D.C. Street Fighter > Mortal Kombat Capcom is responsible for Mega Man, Resident Evil, Final Fight, Street Fighter, Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers, Strider, and the whole VS concept.
plutoblue11 you don't have to crap all over MK to show that SF was a great series. Stop it. MK was a great fighting series as well (and my personal favorite, as I never played SF) whether you like it or not. Sub Zero is one of my favorite video game characters ever. But none of these MK characters should be able to beat Superman. Did Sub Zero add some kryptonite in his freeze projectiles?
Meh, the bottom line is that it's apples to oranges with MK and SF. Entirely different strategies. I guess we'll never know until we see a MK vs SF, which is entirely possible IMO.
