So I left my car on the curb at mother's place for about an hour and half. I come back and see a big fact pink slip sitting on my windshield. It was just as i figured. A ticket for parking the car in the wrong direction. Anyhow, do you guys think this type of ticket is lame or legitimate?
My landlord told me they were really hot on that in this neighborhood. He said he got one after pulling up to the curb, hopping out--with the car still on--and going inside for two minutes. It's lame, but legitimate, especially in a neighborhood.
No front plate. Thats the law that needs to go away. If I ever get another one of those I will a kitten.
^^^ I've never understood the need for front plates in states like Texas, Missouri, etc. Is there a reason besides wasting metal?
Yes. It's legitimate. This is to prevent you from having to go across the opposing traffic in order to get to your right side of the street. AND when you turn your lights on at night, you will have your lights on the opposing traffic. Fixed. You better be thankful we don't have a "license plate on all four sides" law. Be grateful. Why don't you like the laws? Abide by them when they're there, or do something about it.
When you get plates, you get two of them so why is it a big deal (unless your plate is stolen) to not put on your front plate? Why do folks only have a rear plate?
I am sure most of you here know what I do for a living, so I don't think I need to elaborate. The parking ticket is pretty lame. It serves a purpose but we only write for that in certain instances. Some people think the front LP is lame. It is a good law. Just the other day we were dispatched to a reckless driver, possibly DWI. Well, a vehicle turns right as we're sitting at the red light waiting to turn left. We recognize the plate (front plate) and turn around, get it stopped, and arrest the (highly intoxicated) driver for DWI. Lots of drugs, warrants, people with suspended license, etc. are found that are stopped with no plate. What about when a vehicle is cruising around a parking lot and the vehicle is linked to a crime; and that vehicle gets caught on parking lot security cameras. What happens when only the front of the vehicle was on camera and the vehicle contained suspects to a very serious crime? Oh well, they didn't have a front plate like the law requires. Guess they get away. The law is a law for a reason.
Do something about it? You kidding? I'd rather cut myself than do something. edit: until the ahole actually writes the ticket. Then I will jump through hoops in court. At least I admit it I have a flaw.
I got a $120 or so ticket for parking too close to a stop sign. I was with in 20ft of it, in a neighborhood. The reason I parked there? They were redoing my apartments parking lot pavement, and we had NO where to park. Didn't even know I was that close.
i got one of these first day of college at UH, i thought it was hilarious actually, lame in a way, but common sense i just laugh at today
dallas FTW, this lame law isn't enforced if it's even on the books up there. SwoLy-D's argument is pretty weak imo how much traffic is there really on a residential street that makes it dangerous to park facing a certain direction?
