Dont know if there are any Sci-Fi fans out there, but Stargate Atlantis just gor canceled. With SG-1 going, then Galactica, and now Atlantis dorks like me have no good Sci-Fi left to watch. Sorry, Eureka just doesnt do it for me. Atlantis Canceled
Don't worry, there will still be Stargate on SciFi. They gave Stargate: Universe the green light. I think it starts next year sometime.
It sounds like a Stargate version of Star Trek Voyager. People are on a ship, but they can't get home, or something like that. Link to story
According to Cooper, Stargate Universe "maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." It is "a completely separate, third entity" – as opposed to Stargate Atlantis, which was created as a spin-off from the first series Stargate SG-1. Like the first two series in the franchise, Stargate Universe will take place during the present time, not in the distant future. The show will be "set on a ship that was part of an Ancient experiment" to seed the galaxies with Stargates millions of years ago but that was prematurely ended by the Ancients' ascension. After placing Stargates throughout multiple galaxies, a second ship would follow up and explore. When a team of explorers from Earth find an Ancient unmanned ship called the Destiny and are unable to return to Earth, the crew must fend for themselves aboard the ship as it takes them to the far reaches of the universe. The basis of Stargate Universe is that the ninth and final chevron, the purpose of which was previously unknown, would serve to get to the first ship. The show will involve more space-based action than SG-1 or Atlantis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Universe
Ya know, I liked the Stargate movie, but I've never watched an episode of any of the Stargate TV shows. And I really thought that black gay-looking dude in SG-1 was very ugly.
Wow! Are they going to rip-off Star Trek Voyager scripts too, now that they're ripping off the premise?
Stargate Worlds mmo supposed to come out sometime in the near future as well. http://www.stargateworlds.com/
I'm very glad I didn't see the first two episodes until after watching several other episodes in the series. The pilot was okay. The second episode was the worst of the series.
Canceling Atlantis right as it's hitting its stride? Par for the course for dysfunctional Sci-Fi Channel. I swear, management there is TRYING to run the channel into the ground, like that chick owner of the Indians from the movie Major League. BTW, I'm a Stargate fan, but the premise for Stargate: Universe looks craptacular. Now, will I give it a chance? Sure. But then again, I gave Star Trek Voyager a chance, too, and gave up after a season...
I'm not sure SG Atlantis was hitting it's stride. This was a transition season that I never got my arms around. It may have been running out of gas like BSG. Some series just aren't made to go indefinitely and should be shut down before they fray too much at the edges. I think the chemistry of the show was gone and maybe the ratings tanked this season.
The changing of the heads is bothersome 1st Wiet . . then Carter . .and now the DOCTOR from VOyager [why do SCI FI actors seems to go from show to show to show . . .] The premise of the new show *is* crappy I mean - They gonna disable the dial so they cannot go back??? Or maybe they need SUPER POWERED ZPM to get back I dunno . . .the explaination will be crazy I wonder who the EXOTIC SEXY female lead will be [Tela] Rocket River
