Earl Barron Signs In Italy, Is Joined By Qyntel Woods
Center Earl Barron has become the latest in the long line of NBA players to jump ship to Europe for more money, signing a contract with Italian team Fortitudo Bologna, according to the Lega Serie A website.

Barron will be joined by former NBA player Qyntel Woods, who also made the jump to Fortitudo Bologna.

He was supposed to be the next T-Mac. CD got criticized for drafting Nachbar, when Qyntel Woods was still available. He was supposed to be another version of T-Mac. It's clear that Europe is scraping the bottom of barrel for former NBA players by grabbing draft busts. Sure, he is in his 20's, but I rather have a past his prime HOF player.

It's funny to see that both of them ended up going to Europe, anyway.

Oh my God. Earl Barron and Loren Woods?!?!?!?

    Who's next? Dajuan Wagner?!?!?!

The NBA is dwindling down to a bunch of no-talent hacks

Someone please sign Mike Wilks to a 5 year deal so the NBA can at least keep him...

    :p

Rumor has it that Pete Chillcut has been spotted trying out for a team in Estonia. Seriously, I can't believe all the NBA talent these euro leagues are grabbing.

Woods is a degenerate just like Michael Vick. All those bonehead thugs that think they're cool staging dog fights and abusing animals should all be thrown into a shark tank.

I think some people could care less about what happens to the dogs.
Seems kind of tame compared to what we have done to these "thugs" for 400 years....

    2 questions here:

    1. why this american arrogance towards the players that go to europe?

    2. why do people think such news deserve an own thread when things like that happened every year since at least 20 years ago? it seems, somehow, that i can't find the old "matt bullard to play in greece" thread of 1995 (yeah, i know that technically this board didn't exist back then...).

come on guys, the top euroleague teams are as close to some nba teams as they've ever been. right now, a lot of players can even earn more in europe. face it, more and more players go to europe. they may, at least right now, not be the stars of the nba, but hey, they're at least professional basketball players with nba experience and / or potential. when something develops it can't just start with the finished product. with the rule changes and the better talent level the euroleague is slowly catching up. no need to face this developement with arrogance and ignorance.

on the other hand the american media is pretty annoying because of how they handle the situation. it's really not that newsworthy when a guy like earl barron (hey, i've heard of him before...) chooses money in europe over bench scrub life in the nba.

That is misleading. The "more money" thing should really only apply to players who were guaranteed a spot in the NBA, like Childress and a few of the Euros going back to Europe.

If you only follow one league. And from that league 2 players that you never heard of went to another league, your reaction would range from thinking thats good for them, or who cares.

This type of news is kinda influenced from overall socioeconomic outlook & the slumping US economy as much as it does basketball, I think. How U.S. money's drying up so bad people have to leave the country to make a better living, a "wake up call" of sorts.
