It's 7 am here and I am craving a GYRO!!!! I am soooooooo going for lunch today to a local Greek joint but I was wondering does anybody have a good Gyro Recipe that I can make at home? Do we have any Greek posters who can share an authentic recipe for Gyro and Tzatziki sauce? The nice warm pita, juicy grilled meat, fresh tomatoes and onion and cool tzatziki sauce and some greek fries?! Oh damn, I think I just made some people want to do Gyros for lunch today as well :D

    I freakin love gyros...

Gotta get one at Kebobalicious everytime I go to 6th street in Austin... worth the wait.

They had some awesome ones in Chicago too...

Haven't really found anywhere good in Houston though... the only place I know is Niko Niko which is mediocre IMO

They're Bosnian, not Greek, but Cafe Pita near Walnut Bend and Westheimer has gyros that blow Biba's away. Which mean they blow blow Niko's away.

Not tzatziki, though. Something else. Great meat.

I think they sell their own pita (phenomenal) across the street. No idea on the meat.

I miss Niko Niko's, but the best I've ever had are at Truly Mediterranean in SF.

I like Nikos Nikos but its overrated and a bit overpriced!

A hidden Gyro gem is Stelios Greek cafe and gas station!!
Its on Richmond and Sage and they make AWESOME gyros
    and steak fries.

I just ate there yesterday and had a gyro. It was pretty good. The pita is not a crisp pita like most greek restaraunts, its more soft and spongelike. They were kind of skimpy on the meat but it was still a good deal for 4.99 w/ fries.

Stelios is freaking fantastic. Highly recommended.

For Schwarma, check out Schwarma King on Richmond @ Hillcroft.
