I guess the remote chance that McCain knew the questions before he went on makes up for the can of suck that Obama opened up at the Saddleback forum....

Did Hillary cheat when she punked Obama in their debates?

Not to anyone's knowledge. Did McCain cheat when he didn't go by the rules set out beforehand?

Is it cheating when someone follows the agreed upon rules? Yes or No?

Obama did. That just speaks to the low standards his supporters have.

Warren disagrees since his questions for Obama and McCain were worded differently. He made them a little simpler for the old man. Didn't want to confuse or embarass him.

I wasn't grasping at anything. I asked a simple question about following the rules. One that you failed to answer.

So if their standards are low, you must his number one supporter?

You are saying that the majority if voters at this point have low standards?

[sarcasm] So if their standards are low, you must his number one supporter? [sarcasm]

No, I did not see the forum last night. Frankly, I am getting insanely tired of the entire process. It has become so nasty as to have become a charicature of itself. You want to know why other nations snicker at us? Our political process has become laughable.

I'm disgusted, not by you, not by people who disagree with me, but by what the process has become.

Batman, I do appreciate that you are not making the logical leap of accusing McCain of wrongdoing.

We disagree on a good many things. We support different candidates. One thing we can share is civility. Too damned bad that the people running the political show haven't figured that little nugget out yet.

"Cone of Silence" has so many possibilities for innuendo that it's destined to become a classic bit of 2008 trivia.

Amen. It's funny, but in some very real sense I am often heartened by none other than this BBS. The refmans, weslinders, and countless others who disagree with me but have the same civility and goals for this nation that I (hope) I portray.

But aye-yae-aye, watching the talking heads on TV cover this race is enough to send me to an underground bunker.

lol at Batman for the sour grapes in this thread. It's clear that Obama got soundly defeated at this event, so Bats decides to claim he cheated. Awesome. A sure and certain sign of a loss

this thread has totally devolved. i'd be surprised if mccain hadn't gotten some texts or calls about questions obama was being asked and what he was saying. i am sure mccain was on the phone and people were telling him. probably not a consciousness effort to cheat, but c'mon, people are going to talk and tell ya.

i don't think it would have made too much of a difference though. mccain is straight-spoken, obama was more nuanced and intellectual.

guess which one is going to appeal to the common man?

that's it and that's what happened. both canidates communicated their policies - and on that obama should resonate with more of the country, but mccain's style is what gives him an edge here. and yes, with the presidential race - it's all style and very little substance.

Yes, sweet lou, I think that's the sum.
    John McCain

    versus

    Barack Obama

probably swings a very predictable way with voters.

Obama is going to have to stop the law professor stuff and learn how to answer largely with clear sound bites. Dubya knew next to nothing, but held his own against Gore and Kerry. I can see Obama possibly losing the debates to a simplistic, factually wrong, but forceful McCain. McCain will say stuff like off shore drilling will reduce gas prices 50% immediately or whatever. Reagan paved the way by making up facts to win debates. Who cares if the reporters eventually fact check.

Another complaint about Obama. I'd like to see Obama take the kids to McDonalds at least once, though it might clog their arteries a bit.
