    I can understand him using "u" instead of typing out "you." But wuz is three letters just like "was." lol so i dont get why he went out of his way to change the spelling when it doesnt shorten anything, you might as well spell it right.

    "We wuz robbed" is an expression like "Ya gotta believe".

    I question the wisdom of using it in a formal article, but I have no doubt it was intentional.
