Imagine someone visiting Houston and watching our announcers for the first time. Don't get me wrong, I like Calvin, but...

    Those suits! OW, MY EYES!!!

I like the speaking style, Calvin makes me smile, (and you wouldn't want two Bill Worrells out there). I do think Calvin must be James Brown's little brother.

Our announcers, while fans, obviously, of the Rockets, are generally fair, impartial...and not mean-spirited.

Please - Have you not listened to our own announcers. They are just as much homers as anyone, which I think they should be.

Please, Elie. Bill and Calvin were continually praising Duncan, Parker, Smith...and don't even start with that mofo Malik Rose. The only thing Bill said all night was "I like that guy. He works so hard." And Calvin would go "Oh yeah. Rose is good." Not to mention the continual reference to Duncan as "the big fundemental," and "What a good defender Bowen is," even though Mobley kept blowing by him with no problem.

Bill and Calvin might be homers, but they always give the other team their dues. And they aren't scared at all to rip the Rockets. So please. Spurs and T-Wolves announcers are 100% worse than Bill Worrell and Calvin Murphy.

I only got to watch the first half of the Rockets/Spurs game, but I typed out all the stupid stuff the broadcasters said.
“The rookie Tony Parker is starting to take over.”
“The Spurs have taken 13 of 14 against the dreaded Rockets.”
    “Mobley definetly forced that.”
“Tony Parker doing a good job early on Steve Francis”.
“Cya. Tony Parker, blowing the doors off of Steve Francis.” (guess what idiots, he missed the layup!)
“Steve Francis can’t lose Tony Parker”.
    “Tim is dominating.”
    “Parker right around Francis.”
    “O. Tony Parker is stoked.”
    “This is a mismatch so-far.”
    “Francis forcing it.”
“A lot of dribbling by Steve Francis. Out of control.”
What I liked- Tony Parker on the break. Williams decks him and he’s on the crowd covering his head like a baby.
    “Francis is really stuggling.”
“Once again, he’s been one of their few sources.”
“What a half, Daniels had 6 points and 6 assists alone!”
“Mobley trying to do it all by himself.”
“Eddie Griffin light as a pancake on that shot.”
“What a tough start by Steve Francis.”

What about the clippers? I remember their idiot play by play guy calling Tyrone Nesby a "special, special player" when he had probably his only career 20 point game last year. He's at least as big a homer as Joel Meyers.

Lived in Detroit for a few years (during Hill's years) and cringed hearing those middle agged white men trying to mix in slang into their commentary. It brought tears to my eyes...like an onion.

    ZRB,
I usually do not agree with what you post, but it is time to give you some MAJOR credit!!! I am from Cincy and watched these two #$%%@@$ announcers and was in absolute pain. They SUCK!!! The first time I saw them this year was the "Tony Parker" show. They actually said during that telecast that Steve Francis was trying too hard because he was playing Tony Parker. I just laughed that off. But several minutes later they said that Tony Parker was better at this stage of his career than Francis. That is when I turned my volume to mute. These two guys give the word "homer" a new meaning. I gave them another chance the other night only to find myself falling asleep with boredom. I like most of the announcers in this league but those guys are without a doubt the worst. Take care and thanks for the good post!!!
