McCain should be ashamed of himself with that video. So much for running a campaign on ideas. That's right out of the Rove play book.

    not this year...not this time...

McCain is going negative very early -- bad sign for the repubs.

Just a note ~ Obama is sounding weak today on MTP -- he is skirting too many questions from Brokaw.

errr... didn't he hire a top rove aid? He threw out the honorable playbook when he realized he wasn't going to win.

To follow up on this - today's Gallup numbers are 49-40%. That's an Obama high for the last month and a McCain low, breaking through previous high/low of 48/41. If this trend continues another day and McCain falls below 40 or Obama breaks 50, I think it becomes significant. Probably still a short term bounce, but it does indicate some real changes in preferences and might create a higher floor for Obama and a lower ceiling for McCain going forward (until another major event).

    from my inbox this morning...

Today we achieved something amazing -- 2,000,000 donors owning a piece of this campaign.

In the face of John McCain's low road tactics, it's more important than ever to keep our movement growing and show the power of millions of grassroots supporters coming together to work for change.

Thank you for all you have done to build this movement.

McCain pulls even in the Gallup daily tracking poll.... takes a lead in Virginia and Colorado, and is now astonishingly close in Minnesota and Oregon...

You guys realize that if Obama loses Colorado, Ohio, and Virginia, he's toast, correct?

Then how come Gallup shows Obama ahead? I can't wait until after the conventions...

Oh and by the way, take the bet. You seem so sure of McCain winning, but like always, chicken out. Pathetic.

I think some people like the 'idea' of mccain, war hero, low taxes, offshore drilling, but when they see how awkward, uncharismatic, and uninformed he is at the convention and the debates his support will plummet.

On the flip side, I think some people like Obama because he represents change. When he starts speaking in the debates, some of them will not agree with what he says, and support will wane.

It's normal. The people in the middle often change their candidate of choice after the conventions. It isn't like that concept is new.

Hey Chicken_Jorge, I thought McCain "slaughtered" Obama at the Saddleback Forum? Surely, he would be ahead of Obama right now in the Gallup right?

Obama's bubble has popped folks. Take a look across the polls this morning -- both nationwide and battle ground states...

The Paris Hilton ad will go down in history as a devastating ad.
