AC/DC Return To The Studio After Eight Years Australian rockers AC/DC are preparing to end an eight year chart absence by heading back to the studio to record a new album. The band has released a variety of re-mastered LPs over the last few years, but there hasn't been any fresh material recorded since 2000's Stiff Upper Lip. But now the group have announced plans to reunite next month to record a new LP, and the bandmates are also considering embarking on a major world tour. Bassist Cliff Williams says, " We're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). (When) the last tour ended in early 2001, you'd see kids on their dads' shoulders. And these kids were like 10, 12 years old. It will be tremendous to see that again." link
Whoa, it's a sign from God or something... ______ Bon Scott Statue to be unveiled in Perth A LIFE-size bronze statue of legendary hard-living AC/DC frontman Bon Scott will be unveiled in Perth this weekend. The statue will be revealed at the Aussie Rock Celebration concert in suburban Claremont on Sunday before being placed permanently at Fisherman's Wharf in Fremantle, where the singer grew up. "It's true Bon in his rock and roll singer stance. He's giving it all to the crowd, he said. "He's got a microphone in his left hand, tilted up and the cable from the amp on the right, and it's just so Bon. "His jeans are painted on with his package bulging out.'' Local Fremantle sculptor Greg James put the finishing touches on the statue last night and today presented the statue to the media, apart from the covered-up face. link
Sweet! I just hope on the tour Angus doesn't stick to wearing shorts. As great as that was I'm just not sure I want to see his 40 something legs sticking out of a pair of tiny Aussie school shorts.
For those interested the statue... _____ <object allowFullScreen="true" allowNetworking="all" allowScriptAccess="always" data="http://program.flektor.com/program/fplayer.swf" height="340" id="flashapp_683228973" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="allowNetworking" value="all"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="flashvars" value="loop=true&flekvid=_1203878389_609936_44928_2_0_019_004&displayMode=flek&mode=autoplay&playerStile=none&sub_site=tinypicfx"/><param name="movie" value="http://program.flektor.com/program/fplayer.swf"/></object> Spoiler Sorry couldn't resist using the cheesy flame effect
Looking forward to hearing this one. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdai...15/smoking-section-acdc-bob-dylan-the-stills/ Sweet vindication! Last year in this column, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson promised that they’d tour in 2008. Well, he wasn’t kidding. Soon they’ll begin rehearsals in a secret location, before hitting U.S. arenas in late fall. We heard this news at the Sony HQ on New York’s Madison Avenue, before hearing all 15 tracks of the band’s earthshaking new Black Ice, recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with Brendan O’Brien. On it, Brian wails about skies on fire, blood in his eyes, storms raging, lightning flashes, hard rain and pretty women. Angus Young shreds throughout (we dig his slide work on “Decibel”), and the rhythm cats — Malcom Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd — are solid as a rock. The first single is “Rock ‘N Roll Train”; “She Likes Rock ‘N Roll” will be a stripper anthem; and “War Machine” (our favorite) will tear you to pieces.
AC/DC lost me as a fan back when Angus felt it appropriate to do his strip tease act in concert ending in flashing the audience the moon. Sorry, I don't pay to see a concert to watch Angus strip. He's a hell of a guitar player, though. To be perfectly honest, I feel their best work is also behind them. All of my faves are early hits from "Back in Black" and the like. The newer stuff, from "Flick of the Switch"(1983) forward, is all forgettable IMO. If their claiming this latest album is all that and more, then I may give it a spin. But, you won't see me at an AC/DC concert ever again. And, I went to three or four back in the day...beginning with their "Back in Black" tour with Yngwee Malmsteen opening.
Best Selling Albums of All Time- Worldwide. 1. Michael Jackson- Thriller- 100 Million 2. AC-DC- Back in Black- 42 Million 3. Soundtrack- The Bodyguard- 41 Million 4. Eagles- Greatest Hits- 41 Million 5. Soundtrack- Saturday Night Fever- 40 Million 6. Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon- 40 Million 7. Meatloaf- Bat Out Of Hell- 37 Million 8. Shania Twain- Come On Over- 36 Million 9. The Beatles- Sgt. Pepper- 32 Million 10. Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin IV- 32 Million 2nd all time? Wow, I would have figured Zeppelin IV or Hotel California. What the heck's up with Thriller at 100 million??!? I mean, it's got some good songs, but come on!
You're seriously not going to attend due to that? I just took my 14 year-old son to a Staind/Seether concert, and I just wish that were the worst of what happened! Between the mar1juana smoke and the drunkenness and the guy in front of us talking about how he was going to "bend his girlfriend over the bed and do her hard" as soon as he got back to his apartment, and the girl behind us falling into us and then flashing her breasts to me in front of my son- I think Angus' behind is fairly tame in comparison.
Hey...if a chick wants to flash at a concert, then I have no problem with that. I've been to a few shows where that has happened. But, when the audience is 4-to-1 male and Angus feels it is appropriate to perform a striptease...forget it. I don't attend AC/DC concerts any more because I don't like their newer material at all and their older hits have worn thin for me...and Angus has me questioning his sexuality. lol
Yes, I guess that is kinda strange. Maybe they were playing Big Balls or Shake A Leg and it was part of the show and he got confused about the anatomy.
^ That is F'n hilarious... Are you F'n kidding me? no offense but if you own those, you're ghey..oh wait, I have Shania Twain via my divorce settlement...
Don't own 'em, just reporting what I once saw and checked up on it. I have tried to come up with some kind of connection between those recordings and other all-time best sellers, and it's very difficult. The only thing you could say is that: 1. Dance music is fairly popular worldwide (Thriller, SNF soundtrack) 2. Hard rock sells (Back in Black, Appetite for Destruction, Zeppelin IV). 3. Classic rock is big worldwide (Beatles, Floyd, Zep) The ones I have among those are Thriller, Back in Black, Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt. Pepper, and Led Zeppelin IV. Had the SNF soundtrack but lost it. Don't begrudge other people for liking these others, but I would never buy The Bodyguard, Come on Over, Bat Out of Hell, or The Eagles Greatest Hits (only reason I wouldn't buy the Greatest Hits is because I have The Eagles, Desperado, On The Border, and One of These Nights, so it makes that kinda redundant). I have never, ever understood the appeal of Meatloaf. It's like throwing in Broadway show tunes with half-hearted attempts at rock music with embarrassing lyrics. Most overrated album ever, IM possibly warped opinion. I just don't get it at all. Maybe someone has a convincing reason for liking Meatloaf, but I'd buy Thriller, SNF, and even Come on Over before BOOH.
