Yeah but the melody of the Star Spangled Banner came from a British drinking song. It had to be flexible if it was originally being sung by drunk wankers.
If your soccer is any good, please sell it to China. We need a good one. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/15/sports/olympics/15soccer.html?ref=olympics
I missed that race and I hate that I did but did Cullen Jones make up for lost time or did he fall behind? I'm guessing by your comment the U.S. relay team was behind and he cut the lead, am I right?
Big ups to Richard Thompson and Marc Burns from Trinidad and Tobago. They placed first in their second round races and are in the men's 100m semi's.
If he is talking about the 4x100, Cullen Jones kind of held his own. I don't believe he made up any ground, but I don't think he lost much either. Phelps got the U.S. off to a good start and Lezak swam the fastest split in relay history.
Wow... this thread got really entertaining last night! LOL That's because 90% of the worlds population couldn't sing it correctly if they tried. So artists change it to hit the notes.
The fortunate thing is that even with the questionable scoring, in the end, the gold and silver medals went to the correct gymnasts.
Damn, China is still ahead and they are catching up once again. I can't wait for Track and Field to start so we can get some more gold medals. U.S. Women's soccer team won 2-1 against Canada and moved on to the semi-finals and is going to play the winner of the China-Japan game (Japan leads 1-0; 2nd half). U.S. Women's basketball team blew out spain 93-55 and are now 4-0. We need some gold medals, Phelps only has two more left and one of them is really uncertain since it's a team effort 4x100m relay. - _ - Come on GO USA!
Oh OK. I really need to Youtube that race because I still have not seen it in its entirety. I caught it right at the end on TV.
I think it is pretty much a given that China will win the gold race while the US will win the overall race. Last time it was 36-32 in favor of the US in the gold medal count. I am pretty sure China will have more than 40 gold this time, possibly up to 45.
Yea but this time the US has Phelps wining gold in pretty much every single event. And the Russians has been pretty weak so I expect that the US would get more gold in track and fields.
Don't just give up on the U.S. just yet. Let me tell you what we still have favored in our way - Track and Field (at least 14 events out of 40) - 14 Gold (MAYBE) (I'd say at least 8 gold) - USA Basketball (Womens and Mens expected gold - 2 Gold - USA Volleyball - (dwe are moving up in both women and men team play) - possibly 2 gold - Beach Volleyball - (pretty much guaranteed women and men) - 2 gold - Tennis (Not likely to win gold against Nadal is James Blake, but he also knocked out Fedrer so you never know what could happen) - maybe 1 gold - Soccer (women look pretty strong right now, I think it's a 50/50 chance) - possibly one gold - Softball (Women are the favorites) - 1 gold - Baseball - (Men have 50/50 chance) - possibly 1 gold - Boxing - (there's one boxer favored for the U.S., not sure what his name is but that possibly one gold, it's not Warren since he already got knocked out) - possibly 1 gold Those are all the one's I can think of on the top of my head, anyone can add or subtract if you see any errors.
