For those who don't don't know who the mermaids are, I'm referring to the *'s (spurs)

I think Stevie Francis is right about saying that the *'s (spurs) are not contenders, They are the most overrated team in the league, I know a lot of mermaid fans are going to hate me But I don't care, the truth hurts and they know it!

I think Jim Rome started referring to them as the mermaids.

In one ocassion he interviewed David Robinson and asked him what was his favorite movie and he said his favorite movie was Walt Disney's "The Little Mermaid". Since then, Jim Rome started calling Robinson "The Little Mermaid" mostly because of his girlish and soft play on the basketball court.

That whole team is soft. It sucks even more because Duncan has the talent to carry a team, but doesn't have the heart.

I'm a big Rockets fan, but I'm not a sore loser.

Sorry. I'd rather stick with the fact that the best franchise players are big men. The best 2 players on the Spurs are big men. They have 2 out of the top 4 big men in the league. Then they have Jesus, Antonio Daniels and Steve Smith in the backcourt, and Bowen, one of the best defenders in the LEAGUE, at SF.

That's contender, and they're record shows it. It's not like they're overachieving. They played better last year.

Who is their other top-four big man? Surely you're not referring to Robinson as a top-four big man, are you?

Say what you like, but David Robinson is doing what's best for his team. He knows what they can and can't achieve. Don't get me wrong, I hate his guts. But he deserves his props. Because, come playoff time, Robinson will be the 3rd best C in the playoffs(at least)/league.

I really respect Tim Duncan- he is possibly the most complete basketball player in the NBA. His mental toughness is awesome. He is the sole reason the Spurs won in '99. They will not win another title in many years. I hate the fact that they got Duncan by tanking in '97. They kept Robinson out due to a bad back. I thought Greg Pockavich was going to pass out when Charles Barkley accused him of tanking the season. I remember playing them that year. In '97 that was the last big year for Hakeem and his last as an all star. When we played the Spurs they lit us up!!! Dominique Wilkins was way over the hill and scored like 25 points. They were too lucky to get Duncan. Their Karma now is to eternally pay for that. They will not win another championship for at least 20 years.

BAck to the post at hand -I hate the Spurs almost as much as the Jazz. They are a total farce. They are an illusion- just like Robinson with the Atlas build and stay puff softness. They will be lucky to go past the 1st round. They are nothing.

If you want to get technical, there's only one contender, and that's LA.

SA is right in the next group with Dallas, Sac, and Minn.

I don't know. The Mavs are well equipped to beat the Lakers.

In fact, the Lakers will experience speedbumps on the way to another title.

The Mavs can match the Lakers with their permeter-oriented team, and the Spurs can use their 2 big men alongside their infinite perimeter(3-pt) threats.

I'm pretty sure Kobe's going to REALLY stick out this time. More than any other time.
