That's a whole lot to say from a player who's never even sniffed the playoffs. He may be right, but I don't think anyone on our team is in a position to say that. Also, that quote was really a bit unnecessary. No need to make more enemies for no apparent reason... I wouldn't want 35,000 people at the Alamodome screaming their lungs out every time he touched the ball if we played them in the playoffs in the future. It may or may not be true, but it's not the wisest thing to say.
Steve should shut up, mind his business and pay attention to those ankles of his Parker crossed up so frequently last night. Even Cato indirectly digged him. We're still trying to shine right now instead of trying to win ballgames. In the second half, we tried to come back thinking we can do it because we did it before. "Sometimes, we get caught up in the individual. But that's being a young team. We passed the ball a lot better in the second half, and that's why I think we ended up coming back." If that sounded like an indictment of point guard Francis, he didn't seem to mind. He agreed.
Cato, saying something about Steve's game!! PLEASE!! Cato needs to get a grip!! ON THE BASKETBALL!! If Cato had hands on his head, he might get a few more rebounds..
I don't think it's fair to count the fact that he hasn't made the playoffs a hug point. First year, our team sucked. The next year, we had the best record not to make the playoffs. This year, he made the All-Star game while playing through migraines and his stats have improved. The only reason we didn't make the playoffs is because of the injuries. I think it's fair to say he may be unlucky, but unfair to say he hasn't carried his team.
I missed the game. What happened in the game to give Steve the impression the Spurs are not a contender?
We'll have to remember this thread next time that someone calls out the Rockets ("this is a team we should beat") and everyone starts saying that so-and-so is a punk for talking.
And some of you call yourselves fans? Stop supporting the Spurs, and support your superstar. Steve can say whatever the hell he wants about another team. I love to hear things like that from Steve. I'm sick of Rudy constantly praising other teams. Steve was hinting that the Rockets should have gotten a win, while Rudy was basically saying that the Rockets were supposed to lose. I prefer Steve's attitude. And the Spurs are not contenders. They have ZERO chance to do anything in the playoffs.
And the Spurs are not contenders. They have ZERO chance to do anything in the playoffs. I'm guessing this prediction comes as a relief to the Spurs. BTW, part of being a fan doesn't include supporting every superstar blindly in whatever they say. They are capable of making mistakes. There are other ways to say you could've won that attacking the other team.
Steve was right, he probably shouldn't have said it, but he was right. The Spurs aren't contenders, in anyway shape or form. To all the Spurs fans, I'm sorry, your team is headed for a playoff whalloping.
Nah, screw that. I hope Steve makes enemies with almost EVERYONE else in the league. Remember his games in Vancouver? Triple doubles, 30 point games, those were almost always good games to watch, and I think it was because Francis really got up for the booing he knew he would receive. If the next time the Rockets visit SA he gets booed, it would not at all surprise me if he puts up a triple double and we win. Bash em all, Stevie. Let the naysayers sort em out.
I don't see anything wrong with Stevie Francis quote about the mermaids (spurs) not being a contender, THEY ARE NOT CONTENDERS and they likely will get kicked out in the first round of the playoffs. the mermaid team is a one man team, unfortunately Duncan can't carry this team all by himself.
What's wrong with Steve saying the Spurs aren't contenders? I know that people say he hasn't done anything in the playoffs so he shouldn't talk, but people on these boards and others aren't even in the NBA also say the Spurs aren't contenders. I think Steve is at least as entitled to his opinion as they are to theirs. So Steve said they weren't contenders, it doesn't seem like all that big of a deal to me.
ZRB if you can call yourself a Rockets fan then that leaves the door pretty far open for everybody. Steve can say whatever he wants but when he says something stupid he shouldn't expect any blind support. What he said just reinforces how negatively he's seen around the league. It was especially stupid considering the Spurs have been beating the Rockets pretty consistently since Steve has been here.
If you are in the playoffs, then you are a contender. There are sixteen teams in contention for the title at the end of the regular season. The Spurs are most likely going to be one of them, the Rockets most likely are not. Steve should shut up and play. He yaps so much he's giving me a migraine, maybe that is what he intends for the Spurs.
Nicely stated Hydra .... ... I LOVE the Rockets, but I don't think any of them are in a position to say something negative about a team who is going to at least make the playoffs ..... our team needs to grow up a litte and show a little more class ....
