Confessed to being a war criminal?
    Lived in a fantasy world?
    Attempted suicide?

    Fit to lead?

I'll ask again since no one knows:

Where are Obama's medical records and why haven't they been released?

THEY WERE RELEASED IN LATE MAY. http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/05/obama_releases_health_informat.html

Obama releases medical information: "excellent health."

WASHINGTON--Likely Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is in "excellent health," according to a summary of Obama medical records released on Thursday. The 276-word summary was written by Dr. David L. Scheiner, the Chicago doctor who has been Obama's personal physician since March, 1987. Obama has not had a check-up in more than a year. Scheiner described Obama as "lean and muscular with no excess body fat." Obama is still using Nicorette gum to stay off cigarettes--he has quit smoking several times, his doctor notes.

    HIghlights:
*Triglycerides of 44(normal under 150), cholesterol 173 (normal under 200), HDL 68 (normal over 40), and LDL 96 (normal under 130). Chem 24, urinalysis and CBC were normal, PSA was 0.6, very good. An EKG was normal.

The Obama campaign decided to release this summary of Obama's health status at this time to contrast with the long medical history of GOP presumptive nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Az.). The McCain campaign last week allowed a select group of reporters to study McCain's more complex medical history, complicated because of his skin cancer and injuries suffered while serving in the military and as a prisoner of war in Viet Nam.

Below is a letter from Senator Obama’s physician detailing a summary of his health records.

    DAVID L. SCHEINER, M.D.
Hyde Park Associates in Medicine, Ltd.
    1515 East 52nd Place, Chicago, IL 60615

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am David L. Scheiner, a board certified general internist licensed to practice in the State of Illinois. I am on staff at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Rush University Medical Center. I have been Senator Barack Obama’s primary care physician since March 23, 1987. The following is a summary of his medical records for the past 21 years.

During that period of time, Senator Obama has been in excellent health. He has been seen regularly for medical checkups and various minor problems such as upper respiratory infections, skin rashes and minor injuries.

His family history is pertinent for his mother’s death from ovarian cancer and grandfather who died of prostate cancer. His own history included intermittent cigarette smoking. He has quit this practice on several occasions and is currently using Nicorette gum with success.

Senator Obama’s last medical checkup was on January 15, 2007; he had no complaints. He exercised regularly often jogging three miles. His diet was balanced with good intake of roughage and fluids. A complete review of systems was unremarkable. On physical examination, his blood pressure was 90/60 and pulse 60/minute. His build was lean and muscular with no excess body fat. His physical examination was completely normal.

Laboratory studies included triglycerides of 44(normal under 150), cholesterol 173 (normal under 200), HDL 68 (normal over 40), and LDL 96 (normal under 130). Chem 24, urinalysis and CBC were normal, PSA was 0.6, very good. An EKG was normal.

In short, his examination showed him to be in excellent health. Senator Barack Obama is in overall good physical and mental health needed to maintain the resiliency required in the Office of President.

    Sincerely,
    David L. Scheiner, M.D.

Mulder, that is a summary of his current health. I'm interested in his complete set of records including historicals. You probably know why I'd be interested in seeing that.... and that's precisely why, unlike McCain's records, Obama has not released his.

You seem really concerned about his health history. Why don't you just walk up and ask him to turn his head and cough?

Seriously, I will late it out for you like I did with ROXRAN. You don't care if I offer up my opinion (and since I don't work for the campaign [officially] that is all I can give) on any issue dealing with Obama at this point. I just give you FACTS. You, on the other hand only seem to offer conjecture, hyperbole, self congratulations, and insults just vague enough to keep you off the radar of the mods.

You have made up your mind, I have made up mine. So please, do us all a favor and stop acting like you give a crap what we think. I think your head would explode if you found out how the direction I want this country to move in. Obama ain't nearly liberal enough for me. So moveon.org

Why would he do that? If he wins and is a good president, there's no reason for him not to run for reelection. Warren Buffett is 77. I don't think he's somehow losing it because of his age.

    Yes, dude is sharp.

But, hasn't he scaled back his activities a decent bit, as per the big move to the Gates foundation? Interviewed by Fortune magazine after the announcement, Buffett said:

"One problem most rich people have is that they're old, with contemporaries who are not at their peak years and who don't have much time ahead of them. I'm lucky in that respect in that I can turn to younger people."

    Linky

Again, I don't think it's a defining issue, but it is not trivial. How many meetings per day does Buffet attend? How many briefings does he need to read every morning? How much international travel does he schedule now? The hardest job in the world presumably puts great demands on one's energies.

McCain is considerably younger than Buffett, but I wouldn't bet against Buffett anyway. As for his current schedule, it's still fairly packed. And his stepping back a little is more from a sense of accomplishment rather than an inability to do the work. I seriously doubt Buffett would say someone is incapable of doing the job because of age, and he certainly wouldn't say they should be rejected on face because of age.

"When they open that envelope, the first instruction is to take my pulse again." Buffett at an Annual Meeting after mentioning that the instructions of his succession are sealed in an envelope at headquarters.

This is an absolutely shameful attack. No journalist, no pundit, not even a psychologist who hasn't personally evaluated the man is qualified to make this sort of clinical diagnosis. Everything else is innuendo and speculation.

If Obama brings this up in any way, or if he allows his supporters to without denouncement, I will not vote for him. It is an insult not only to a genuine American war hero, but to all sufferers of mental illness. It trivializes their conditions by opening the door for the "oh, everybody has [insert real mental illness]" line that I hear way too often.

Sweet Lou, you should be ashamed of yourself for your OP. Your backpedaling is not good enough. You really should apologize for posting this bassoesque filth.

I agree with you on the first two paragraphs. But not the third. Republicans have brought this attack up upon McCain when he ran against Bush in the primaries.

Obama will not bring this up. We know that. It's not his style.

I won't apologize though. I feel it was necessary to demonstrate how ugly the attacks on Obama have been by bringing up something nasty and awful about McCain - the only irony is that both attacks are coming from the same machine - and that should make a light go off in everyone.

I certainly don't mean to offend you, but I am not ashamed in posting this thread either. I think it brings a different perspective and is worth comparing to the attacks on Obama's character / patriotism.
