    We won the first championship against New York. Back then Dream could destroy Ewing, D. Robinson or even Shaq on a nightly basis. It was simply painful to see him get destroyed by an aging Ewing. It's one thing to struggle against Shaq at his prime, but Ewing is acually OLDER than him if I'm not mistaken.

    I hope the nail-clipping stuff is a joke. Did anybody see it? I still can't believe it.

    Hakeem is the guy that redefined Basketball for me. In the Phi Slama Jama days, he was energetic, explosive and often angry, he was a fighter, a warrior. Where was that Hakeem? Where did he go? First he changed his name (from Akeem), then he started fasting (which eventually deteriorated his health), then he became a more "peaceful" man. But basketball is not figure skating, you just HAVE TO be a fighter. I am not saying it's not right to be religious, but you have to be professional first, after all, that's what they (we) pay him to do.

    What is the big deal with the nail-clipping, maybe they were bothering him during the game.

    Sailor, I'm not going to get into the religious side of your argument. But you are right about this game against NY being the end of an era. It is sad to see that Ewing, who looked like he was on his last legs in '94, outplayed Dream. He did say something encouraging though: that critics were once saying the same thing about him that people now say about Olajuwon and he came back and is still productive. Hopefully, Dream can be productive again -- or, failing that, maybe Cato can be productive again (he had 5 fouls in like 14 seconds last night).

    I guess you guys missed the 2 games earlier this year when Hakeem couldn't score on John Salley?

    Do you think Rudy will continue to Start Dream for 5 minutes all of next year. It's a tribute, but it's clearly hurting the team to have him in the game. We can't afford to get blown out of every game early because Hakeem can't catch his breath. Its better for the team if we bench him. My fear is that Rudy doesn't want him to lose respect. I think we've got to cut the chord now. It's for his own good.

    Who do we have that will do any better than Hakeem? Cato can't really play D and Pig can't do anything out there. Our best option is Dream.

    I just want to post a reply to see what comes up in my "# of posts" and "registered since" columns. It's pretty cool.

    Maybe it is just me but when Cato was guarding Ewing or Thomas they would just go right by him or he would foul them. I think he's got a long ways to go before he can fill Hakeem's shoes, even at the level of play Hakeem is giving right now.

    Cato needs to work on his offensive game. We have no frontcourt help. All the work is being done by Backcourt 2001.

    The Freak: I watched him struggle all season long, but yesterday's game was symbolic/ironic for several reasons:

    1. New York is the team we beat to win the first championship;
    2. Ewing is his long time rival and is aging too, yet he (Ewing) destroyed him (Dream);
    3. The Dream went 0-9 and missed two DUNKs and looked completely lost;
    4. it was a night our future, Steve Franchise, tied his career high.

    The contrast was simply too dramatic. It was very sad too for anyone who followed him for more than 5 years.

    Cato doesn't have a god defensive game he just stands around trying to block shots. The reason he lets someone get by him is to let them think they have an easy layup and then block them from the side or behind, but that doesn't work in the NBA.
