It's all about performance. You'd agree with me that somebody simply performed better almost than anyone else on the stage lively, right? Since both two girls got credits publicly, i am not as upset as when i first learned about it. Instead of turing the whole thing into Lin VS Yang, it's good that now it seems it's a duo effort. Another point , Yang is happy about her voice being used in spite of not being shown on stage. I would be ill-comfortable if she grumbled about the "stolen" spotlight.
It's human nature, easy to understand. China wanted to be perfect, and everyone was stunned. So people are inclined to try to find out what went wrong.
The guy that lit the torch wasn't really flying...he had wires holding him up. Damn Chinese faking everythign!
I won't dispute your personal experiences but I'll stick to the context of the opening ceremony. I think this "corruption" as you put it more than just exists, I'd go as far as to say it is rampant in Western entertainment circles and I view the Olympic opening as just that - entertainment. It is also why I find this such a non-issue. I thought the girl who sang would have been a perfectly fine choice to appear too, but I can understand the reasoning behind the move. It is the same reason why many pop stars are chosen for their looks and lip synch songs for their 'live' performances. It is the same reason why actors, singers Western, Asian, everywhere do plastic surgery. The majority of us viewers prefer seeing pretty people on our TVs.
It was a bad omen which presaged worse to come, such as murder of US citizens. One world, one nightmare is the new slogan for these games.
I'm surprised that China opened the country up to so much criticism with the switch -- both girls are equally 'cute'.
So Sammy, what omen presaged the Atlanta Olympics bombing? That killed/wounded a wee bit more people. Bombing of the Century?
The omen that presaged it was the decision to put the Olympics in a miserable collection of disjointed suburbs and traffic jams known as the city of Atlanta, Georgia - a place nearly devoid of charm or lasting appeal. Atlanta makes Beijing look like Barcelona - as much as I dislike visiting Beijing, I disliked Atlanta far more. At least Beijing had history and points of interest. That city shouldn't host anything more dignified than a monster truck rally, I was in Paris at the time and felt the shame of an exiled mei guo as the world was exposed to the Blazing Asphalt Assault.
Trust you to put a spin against China. I'll admit it was the wrong thing to do for that girl to fake and lip sync the song. Also the murder has been portrayed much larger by the media than the actual real circumstances.. but One world One nightmare? You crossed the line.
Fisher!! Don't you freaking know what Atlanta is famous for?? I'm with the crazy Chinese posters here, you lost it! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QmfqTyaWU3M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QmfqTyaWU3M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
The CCPs should have learned a thing or two from the Aussies. http://www.theage.com.au/national/great-olympic-musical-deceptions-of-our-time-20080823-40z9.html
I'm pretty sure the SSO was not replaced by a more physically attractive-looking orchestra and had to play behind a curtain while the better looking orchestra played. tinman I don't care about the ATLiens, i will raise them a Ghostface Killah and take them on with all of Staten Island.
Yah, looking aside, they were definitely insecure about their playing so they played the record from another orchestra. I can only guess that the "Melbourne" orchestra didn't sound right for the "Sydney" Olympics.
Jimmy Page 2008 didn't sound right either which is why they played a tape last night of Jimmy Page circa 1970 something. The singing girl was all about the look - one was too ugly to make the cut, poor little thing.
