Here's an article from the chron on Rafer's DWI case... Just thought I'd bring it up with the GARM do stagnant. The devoted ones of us sink in the BBS... The delirious ones dive into chron.com.

Tell you what, next time he is impaired someone should escort you with your car and put you on the same road as Rafer Alston. I wonder if your caring factor changes. I can't believe someone is ok with an impaired driver playing russian roulette with people on the road. Drunk drivers don't just kill, they paralyze and seriously injure people.

Aww come on. He was driving down WASHINGTON for God's sakes. If you are dumb enough to be on that road at 2:50AM then you got no one to blame but yourself if something bad happens to you.

That's like standing underneath the lone tree in a field during a lightning storm.

But I guess Rafer is also kinda dumb for driving drunk on Washington and expecting no cops to be there.

I'd like to know how drunk he really was...

I mean, he could have just had a few drinks and forgot to flip his lights on and then all the sudden he's got 5O behind him. Its one thing to drive drunk, but driving after just a couple drinks, while still is considered DUI, is not quite the same as being completely intoxicated and that line is pretty blurry. Depending on the mood of the cop that pulled you over, you could just go home or end up locked up.

I'd like to think he'd know better than to drive when he's too drunk to even function. But anyone who goes out and drinks occasionally knows that 90% of the people in whatever bar or club you go to will end up DUI.

If you are too drunk to turn on your lights that's not just a couple drinks.

I'm really surprised at the amount of people on this board who think any kind of drinking and driving is okay. Even 1 drink (while legal) can be fatal in your judgement. When you see another person (or a child's) brains splattered across your grill then you might reconsider your position.

I had a guy smash my vehicle from the side once when my baby was on the backseat. He supposedly only had "a couple of drinks". Then, after asking me if we were ok, he still drove off when we were pulling off the road. Thank God nothing happened to us, other than the fact that car required over a thousand dollars worth of body damage.

Drinking and driving is just r****ded and stupid. There is no excuse. Get a friend to drive you or get a taxi.

Washinton is close to the bee hive. The hive being at Houston and Washington. Easy pickens for cops.

what Rafer did was really, really stupid.. who knows what might've happened if he wasn't pulled over.. maybe he ends up killing himself or someone else... in the end it's just not worth it.. I'll pray for all of this to work out for him...

Ok, one drink isn't too many for most people. If you go to dinner and have a few glasses of wine over the course of that dinner, i think it's fine.

There are legal standards for what driving under the influence is. I have had 3 or 4 drinks at a bar and driven home, made an illegal u-turn and got pulled over by a cop. Did the walk and all that, and was fine.

Ideally, you are right, simply don't consumer alcohol and get on the road. But it's also knowing your limits. Yes even one drink can affect you - but so can a lack of sleep or being really stressed out. Or being upset about something. And people drive under all of these circumstances.

But drinking to the point of intoxication is a definite no-no. And thats the problem.

Also it matters what kind of driver you are.

Where was all of this commentary when the TEXAN players did it or if you believed that role model Bagwell was juicing....Rafer is stupid for what he did, Justice stupid for what he does.....both of these guys need some competition breathing down their necks.

Justice's opinion matters as much to me as "the rocket guy". I wish we would automatically lock his threads also. He's a joke.

I think Justice should move to Cincinnati, since he obviously gets off on stoning athletes for their mistakes. He would have a field day with the Bengals recent problems and he would love that Chris Henry has run out of "chances" with the Bengals.

Of course that would mean I would have to hear him on Cincinnati radio... so.. let me take that back.

    Yall can keep him.

when I lived fairly close to downtown and was single, i always drove down washington on the way home and never had a problem with cops. of course you're right, the main police station is right there but I don't think i've ever seen anyone pulled over. plus, its an easy drive.
