Hey guys.. Just wondering if any of you have noticed anything fishy going on with reviews of this 'movie'.. Happened to be on AICN a few minutes ago, and noticed that there seem to be two different negative reviews which have mysteriously been removed.. Anyone else notice anything like this going on? This thing is starting to smell like *disaster*... ..and they are going to try to make an actual television series out of this too?
'movie'...don't get the quotes. Animated features aren't movies? Looks like an action romp devoid of plot. So, it should be better than phantom menace and attack of the clones.
You won’t find a bigger Star Wars fan than me (I even liked the prequels) but I have absolutely NO desire to see this video game…..er, uh, “movie”. Putting aside the fact that this movie isn’t even a real movie, I don’t understand why we should care about the Clone Wars at all in the grand scheme of things. The whole war is a rouse put together by Palpatine to gain more power, so why should we care about any of the details? What does this particular period of the saga have to add to the overall story? I say nothing. I say this in every Star Wars thread, but… I think the next movie should take place between III and IV and should be called something like The Rise of The Empire. It should focus on a young Darth Vader doing Palpatine’s bidding, exterminating Jedi and just KICKING ASS. There’s 20 years between III and IV and that would do a much better job of setting up IV. Just my flea bittin' opinion.
I think that that would be a bad idea just leave the films like it is. The whole hook of the first 3 episodes was people wanted to see how Vader became Vader, I dont see that movie doing as good as any of the movies in the series.
Already have the little misses asking me if I have bought tickets for this Friday. My answer, although I am lying, is a resounding YES. I don't care about what the CRITICS say. I will go see it. I hardly read "reviews" before I go see a movie. I am a Star Wars fan and will probably not miss any of the series, and I know the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network was good, but I didn't see it because I didn't have cable at the time. I think it's a nice move to an animation change, and you probably will think it's a CGI movie with "different" characters.
Well, I use quotes simply because, as I understand it, this is more like a tv series pilot than an actual movie.. it is just being put in theaters to get some $$ ..
There is almost no reason that this should be going into the theaters. (other than the fact it will make good money just because its "Star Wars") It basically is a pilot for a TV series. This should either be straight to video or a network movie.
I was mildly interested though the trailers don't seem to offer much other than countless battles. And then I read Harry Knowles review (I guess before it got taken down) and I've decided I'll pass and wait till DVD. The Clone Wars was a nice way to bridge II and III but to add another movie, plus animated show, plus live show that takes place between III and IV...well that's just a little too much.
The irony is this sad excuse for a movie will probably be better written and (voiced) acted then all 3 of the other other prequels.
An animated Star Wars movie might be a good idea. But the animation looks to be at least 5 years out of date. Aside from that it hasn't really struck any interest in me. That's too bad.
I've committed to take my nephews (8 yr old twins) this weekend, and I'm not really looking forward to it. Since the prequels made Darth Vader such a pudknocker, Star Wars hasn't been the same for me. I mean, it's Darth Freaking Vader. Why did they make him act like a teenager who got picked on in high school? But, I digress....
