Swung by The Venetian this weekend and picked up some futures sheets and was a little shocked to see the Rockets listed behind the Suns and that far behind the Spurs. Wow. At 17/1, Houston seems like a decent bet. Discuss.
Some of those lower teams are just ridiculous. I won't take those odds that they even make the playoffs much less come out on top when it's all over. Will someone actually put any money down on the Hawks to be the champs? The Grizzlies? The Knicks? How many plane crashes have to occur for that to happen? Those are the odds of one of those teams ending up as the champs.
Im not a gambling man..but if I was...my money would be on the Rockets not just for hometown fandom...but they have the best chance/odds available. Those seem crazy to me, but sounds like most outside of Houston don't expect much from the Artest acquisition.
I'm no gambling man but I'm soooo tempted to put some money on the Rockets this year. Maybe 200, with a chance of getting back 3,400!
not big in betting but i have a question for those that know. if i bet $100 on the rockets and they win it all...i win $1700? and if they dont win it all, do i just lose the $100 that i bet on them or do i have to pay the difference of $1600?
Im not a gambling man... but if I was... my money would be on your signature as the most distracting one at CF.net ... can you please stop blinding us with such LARGE BOLD letters, man? I mean, at least use the [size] code to make it smaller, man... ?
If you put $50 each on the Lakers, Celtics, Hornets, and the Rockets you could win: $650 if the Rockets win it all $250 if the Hornets win it all Break-even if the Celtics win it all Lose $50 if the Lakers win it all Lose $200 if a team surprises everyone I've never gambled before, but this seems like a good bet.
If you guys were to pony up about $500 to $1,000 and bet on the Rockets to win it all, the Venetian would probably lower the odds. All those odds really mean is that harldy anyone is wagering on the Rockets to win it all.
Are you sure this is updated? The site where i bet had the Rockets 15/1 odds to win the Championship before the Artest trade. It went to 10/1 after the trade.
If you put $100 on the Lakers, $75 on the Celtics, and $50 each on the Hornets, and the Rockets you could win: $575 if the Rockets win it all $175 if the Hornets win it all $125 if the Celtics win it all $25 if the Lakers win it all or Lose $200 if a team surprises everyone Where can I bet?
The last time I checked after the trade the odds were 10/1. The Celtics were at 3/1. That being said, I would bet some money down on the Rocks even though it has been against my rules to bet on a team you have emotional attachment to. This year when I objectively look at the whole NBA, I still think the Rockets have the best chance to win it. I suspect that the Venetian has not updated the odds.
I picked this up Saturday. The date at the bottom says odds are as of 8/7/08. The Station Casinos (Red Rock, Sunset Station, Green Valley Ranch, et. al.) don't even have NBA futures listed yet. I guess after last year's Celtics, it's probably a lot safer (from Vegas' bookmakers aspect) to wait until the season is about to start to see what final summer player movement occurs. If I get a chance, I'll pick up some more preseason listings...and continue to post new listings throughout the season.
