It's great to see Yao going for the put back dunk and stretching the defense, hopefully Spain will be better!!

I really hope Yao is developing a 3-point shot. I know he's not, and that the reason he did that was because it's 20 feet, which is just outside his conventional range...but could you imagine?

he's shown that he can hit that 3 but he's more effective closer in. i don't really want to see yao shooting 3's when he's does so much better shooting back to the basket jumpers and stuff.

If Yao blocks Kobe like that in an NBA game that's a guaranteed FOUL on Yao.

Love the heart and passion he seems to be playing with, I know he gives 100% if not more with the Rockets but you can clearly see that hes giving 150% for China.

Thats the beauty of the olympics, you see the best in everybody, even the people that you thought gave their best

the chinses roster jumping the ball with howard was yi instead of yao.i speculate that yao's injuried foot has not been fully healed yet,as i watching yao strugggling to run and his painful faces.yao will be down for sure in the upcoming games and will not be able to play or even to stand for months, then our upcoming season will be badlly affacted by the olympics. :(

Supposedly they have the "chinese magic" named Sue Yu or something (forgot his name) and hes 6'9 but i doubt hes much of a ball handler

It was quite obvious that Yao Ming played most of this game as a play maker. It was sort of like watching him from last season! I hope he drops this way of playing during the Rocket's season. :p

Exactly, I doubt Yao is better than an average 3 point shooter anyway. If he wants to be dominant, he has to do it in the post.

Great post! I remember reading Red Auerbach's autobiography and him getting pissed at Russell for practicing outside shots. He said there was absolutely no reason for him to practice shooting outside when they had much, much naturally better outside shooters.

I think that was an absolutely brilliant comment. Yao should spend every second practicing down in the block and leave the outside shooting to T-Mac, Rafer, Ron, Rafer, Bat & Co. Not that I don't think Yao could be above average (as I think he could), but I think he'd be much better in the low block & leave the outside shooting to the players that have been practicing shooting there for years (not months).
