HDTV Help

I have the same problem. I am sure the problem occurs because of Comcast. Everything was working fine last year, but sometime this year, the problem started. I had the same tv, same everything.

I would call Comcast, but as of now, it hasn't affected the channels I watch, thankfully.

 

Make sure your cable box isn't on "pass-through"?

I think thats a great deal. I got mine, also a phillips 42 inch .. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013JIXCE <-- this one for about $1000 at sams about 2 weeks ago. Great picture, doesn't get hot, and it has 4 hdmi inputs! picture is clean and crisp, and i havent had any problems with comcast hd yet. Blacks aren't the best but they are good enough when you tweak the picture settings.

Another thing I found out... It can receive 1080p signal through component from a xbox360. Which is great for me because I have an older 360 with no hdmi output.

 

ya, that was the other tv I was looking at, I wonder why there is such a price differential between the two models... (TV's are not my area of expertise)

It is more likely a comcast problem.
What do you mean by delay? It blacks out for five seconds? You mean your reception is five seconds behind the live feed?

There are some times that an HDTV will pause a bit to adjust for the different broadcast resolutions. But delays longer than a second are likely broadcast reception problem (comcast.)

 

Only difference I see is mine has 1 more hdmi input and the "contrast ratio" is like 29000:1. But we all know the contrast ratio is mostly bs.

I am sure both are great. Go for the best deal! The sound is awesome by the way.

It says it includes matching stand.. that doesn't mean TV stand does it? If so, I'd think that'd be an absolute steal..

 

Nah its just that little "stand" that holds the tv up. Not a real stand. Phillips has made lcds and plasmas without the attached stands. So before you would have to hang it or buy one. These come with those ones attached to the bottom so you can set them on tables and crap.

 

Ahh I see -- I figured all flat panel TV's would come with stands. That was pretty sh!tty of Phillips before.. and funny now that they're advertising it.

Anyways -- I would go check it out in a store before pulling the trigger. No comments can take the place of seeing it for yourself.

Does (Manufacturer Recertified) mean anything or play any significant role?

 

Ask Comcast to boost your signal strength, or have them send someone out to test it.

It sounds like you are having that issue...where the TV loses the signal because it is so weak.

A booster might fix it entirely, it did for me with Time Warner.

That was happening for months.. then it go so bad that eventually certain channels wouldn't even load. Then the premiums started to flicker on and off. They looked pixelated or just wouldn't show at all. Aside from my signal being weak, the biggest problem was the actual cable wire running into the house. It was old and was bent and chewed in certain parts. I called Comcast, and it took them 4 days to come out but they fixed it. Now the picture is great and all channels show with no problem.
