Carl Landry is obviously very good, but the entire reason we're worrying is that his game is based heavily on his athleticism and ability to finish around the rim. If his knees really had problems, his game is much more limited.

Morey isn't wrong to have waited it out. We all know how good Landry is and though it's fairly safe to say that he's not a one year wonder, if he really does get injured after a fat paycheck, the media is going to be the first to laugh at us for being r****ded. I really don't care what the media thinks about our off-season decision making as long as we make the right one.

I like D. Wright. He was forced to do too much last year.

I know this "mentions" Carl Landry but was a new thread really necessary for this news lacking article by Kelly?

pretty shabby list, imo (outside of smith, iggy, & carl). dorrel wright is a decent end of rotation player.

the way I see it, if we cannot bring carl back, I doubt we will pick up another power forward. artest/hayes can back up scola, so I'd look for us to make a move on jr smith and/or jannero pargo.

I hope we sign Landry to a reasonable contract, but only if the Rockets are allowed to examine his knees and ankles first. Landry has always been just one knee bump away from being out of the NBA.

I mean, I don't really get why Kelly blasts the Rockets here. Seeing as how the Rockets are probably more familiar with his health situation along with his clown of an agent, why should we knock down his door with a blown-up offer? Let the market shake itself out. Plus, Kelly, if Landry was as much of a lock as you make him out to be, why haven't other teams been lining up to sign him? It's easy to just throw stones at management, but I think it's safe to give our front office the benefit of the doubt after the moves they've made over the past couple of seasons.

I won't take this author's opinion too seriously...obvisouly he doesn't know as much as he think he knows.

Why doesn't Josh Smith simply sign a 3 years full MLE deal with player option at end of each year after the first, instead of playing for the "smallish" qualifying offer?
BECAUSE HAWKS WOULD NEVER OFFER THIS KIND OF DEAL.

why would Atlanta do that? so Josh can get more next season, then be opt out next year? then just have him play for the qualifying offer, then become free-agent after that...it's the same thing!!

No one would "return the favor"..... not if we talking about millions.
Why doesn't Josh Smith sign for the amount he wants, but have team option in his contract every year after the first?

This guy obviously has no idea how to be a GM....
I am glad he's not running the rockets....
    DON"T Listen to him Morey.

Kind of a dipsh^t thing he said about the Rockets. It's a completely good reason why this thing has taken so long. Bad agent, possible bad knee, overinflated sense of worth, the need to lowball a player.

That is pretty much what Dwyer is suggesting. Just sign with some team for the max MLE price, with opt out options, and then he'll double his income for the year. He's not suggesting that the Hawks give him that deal.

    Robert Horry

Nothing left in the tank, and unfortunate circumstances (the Rockets know what they're doing, the Heat don't need another forward, Danny Ainge can't stand him) could conspire against Horry latching on with a known commodity.

Sounds like props to Morey. Although I want Horry to play for us. Crowd would go nuts everytime he stepped on the floor. That itself is worth it.

I like most Dwyer articles I read even if I don't completely agree. I mean you go through the whole thing and there isn't one forced pop culture reference, you wonder if he pays attention to his colleagues, hopefully not.

As far as Landry goes I think Kelly is probably thinking about him missing summer league time, but I'm not too worried about that. The big upside of Carl is that you never have to run a single play for him, so as long as hes in camp in shape and healthy no biggie. I think there might have been something to it if the Carl's camp and the Rockets were close on something, then it might have been worth it to give in and get him into summer league and also have Dorsey signed and playing, but I get the impression they're still pretty far apart.

I totally agree on the A.I. thing, though. Whomever signs him to a contract at @ $12 million is going to pay, I think the Sixers might actually be smarter then that. Igs would be a great third option on a team and a pretty nice second option but he just doesn't have the skills to be a first. If Artest wasn't here he'd be perfect next to Yao and T-Mac but not at the rate he's likely to get either this year or next.

This is definitely an interesting read. From that entire list i only see Landry or maybe Croshere as an interesting pick up. The guy is good but I still find it extremely scary that he does not want to have his leg examined. He really has no reason to not do it. It could only up his value if it is proven that his legs are just fine. Heck there is only so much we can afford to keep the guy and if his legs prove to be alright and someone else offers a crazy offer, as much as I'll miss him we will find another way. But seriously if the goods are damaged then no need to over pay. Morey knows what he is doing. In Morey we should trust.

Why in the world of all the guys in the world to feel bad for, would it ever be Robert Horry.

    Millionaire
    Countless rings
    Retires @ 40
    Hot wife? (dunno, guessing)

Sorry, I cannot feel bad for this person.
